Has anyone else tried going up as far as they can? on a regular planet, I bubble jumped for AGES until I finally found a meteor, somewhere up really high. I'd only just landed on it before I started to freeze to death, with tier 10 armour and a solarium drone. Its pretty cold out there...

Lobsterpillar posted:Has anyone else tried going up as far as they can? Then again, Planet coldness can get kind of screwy at times with things like Desert planets that go from "You are fine in this titanium outfit even at night" to "maximum cold" after you reach a certain depth. Are you using any mods that would alter planets or the environment itself? Still, kind of Blah if there are areas so cold that not even the best stuff in the game, in TOP of extra modded in heat sources you still can't handle it. Gear Gates are one thing, but come on. I'd see how orbital space coldness was on my end, but all my techs so far have been Three Energy Dashes (one from goon listed coordinates stating double jump), one double jump, and one rocket jump. Fake Edit: Stupid question. Does that drone provide AIR? Considering you need a survival pack for space normally, and the cosmetic back slot does not provide mechanical effects.

The drone doesn't provide air, but does provide +40 warmth and light. I'm using the Exploration Enhanced mod. It might be worth noting that it was night time when I almost froze to death (I beamed up just in time), and the planet was a forest, not an arctic planet. Next time I'm going to take a lot of fires and do it during daylight hours. I'd also like to get a skyrail going up there.

I just had one of the most perfect Permadeath spawn planets ever. My Floran spawned right inside a mushroom village with a mushroom chest right next to me. There was a free mushroom head I put on and there was free pixel pots everywhere. The trees were nice birches and the dirt was the perfect shade of green. Everything was going great and I was gonna go back to my ship and write the coordinates down to post here... Turns out the weather there was Meteor Showers

I AM NOT YET DEAD I had a pretty severe case of ~*~REAL LIFE~*~, and I decided to spend what free time I've had playing videogames instead of working on mods. However, I am sorta-kinda back to where I should be and able to make and update mods again, though maybe not as swiftly as I used to! Sorry I just up and vanished~ To make it up to you, I just hammered out two updates; Advanced Workstations now contains bomb-making and medical stations, though the art assets are only placeholders, and Exploration Enhanced got a couple bugfixes (including the coal drone visual error) and a fixed set of planetside teleporters! Okay, I really like your combat mod, but I am more space gun oriented and want to drop the -20%/25% drop in gun damage. How? I have looked for documentation on starbound files and come up empty. I have a bad feeling this is going to get me a link to an otherwise obvious FAQ. From mollygos's post on the release of the furious koala patch I am guessing this hasn't been published yet. Looking at commonpistol differences between your version and vanilla is "baseDps","rateOfFire","multiplier" , and one less entry in the bullet list below. What do the 2 numbers in baseDps refer too? Are they upper and lower bounds? Guessing rateOfFire is like in game and larger is faster. Does multiplier relate to changer per tier level? Also in the projectile file type power is mentioned the few i looked at (like explosive bullet) seem the same but the level requirements are different. Are all the damage changes in the gun files? What does power here refer too? Hopefully this is just a simple copy paste thing.

Just encountered a weird bug that I don't know how to fix. My ship never drops out of hyperspeed. The sound cue plays indicating that it should spool down, but the FTL "jumping" animation continues to play in the navigation screen and in the space around my ship. It's not just an animation--I can't teleport down to the planet (any planet, really, even my home) while I'm in hyperspped. I've waited and waited and it just never ends. When I use the navigation console again, I briefly see the planet selector screen, but then almost immediately it's replaced by the "jumping" animation. I can't jump to a random planet, either, while the ship is jumping. Not all of my characters are affected by it, thankfully, but my main guy is and that's disheartening. Any ideas? I'm in Windows, running the unmodded game.

At this point things get REALLY cold, so armour doesn't protect you. Campfires do, so I filled my space elevator with campfires. Different NPCs also spawn up here than down on the surface, but the asteroids are completely boring. I put a little moon base and a flag up there anyway. Is anyone else using Exploration Enhanced and seeing no asteroid fields anywhere?

So who wants a shot at a Morph Ball? Or at least trying their luck with a Tech Chest on a T10 Moon. My stubborn self has been trying to go Vanilla without coordinates referencing, but I figure I may as well list what cool toys I come across for others. There is also an unfinished Avian Tower, On The Moon. Sector X X -83603562 Y -64050189 X Ichora 1010 III b The Small T10 Moon on the bottom. The Tech chest which held a Morph Ball for me is nice and obvious on the surface to the Right/East of Spawn. The Avian tower (none of them dropped anything but pixels for me, you may have better luck) is shortly to the Left/West of Spawn. T10 NPC guns seem to have gone from "What a Joke, I'll just walk right up to them and one or two shot them with my hammer", to an actual threat since multiple people shooting you with 1 damage bullets at several hundred bullets a second, with no sign of them running low on energy adds up. Good thing I had that shield I recently found in my inventory still for the hell of it. Useless for melee monsters (since they just pass right through you and proceed to hit you for full damage most of the time), but good to have available when suddenly it's Uzi O'clock. You can barely see me under all the blocked messages, oh my. Unrelated, anybody else find themselves unable to craft consoles or levers? They don't even show up on my Robotic's table (Or Metalworking station, or Wiring station just to be sure) as options. I can't remember if I ever noticed them in my crafting inventory or not before now since I never wanted to make them until now, but nothing there. I am not using any mods but Persistent Farmables. EDIT: ^^^ I find it somehow fascinating that the temperatures of straight up asteroid fields can be handled with A mix of Durasteel and Snow gear, and I'm toasty warm even when "night" falls in my Impervium Gear (same warmth as the snow trooper set). But apparently the limited chunk of space above planets is colder than even that. Frivolous Edit: Every scannable scenery Item I have looted so far and kept a hold of is now scanned, whoo (granted that's only some Floran, Apex, and USCM prison stuff... Still no Retro Oven ). Durasteel Chair is back to being my favorite chair, once I realized Impervium chair has your feet clip into the ground a lot of the time. Probably an oversight. I assume they set orbital altitudes on planets super loving cold initially, then later added the asteroid fields with survivable temperatures, but never went back and made high altitudes match it. Or said super cold is supposed to serve a similar function to planetary lava cores; a barrier to kill you before you hit the ceiling/floor of the map.

I think a pretty good barrier to prevent players reaching the top of the map would be a variation on the 'abominable snowman' from skifree. A giant meteor flies in from the left (or right), traveling in orbit around the world, and obliterates anything in its path.
