Nothing against Slylock Fox as a strip, but if there's an image of a mad scientist on a customized bike having a race against a fox with a jetpack, dodging crocodiles, bats and snakes, I kind of expect a more exciting backstory.

This is actually my favorite part of the Slylock strips. "After a daring heist and international getaway, Count Weirdly has discovered Slylock Fox has almost caught up to him! They begin to have a fistfight on top of the express train. If the train left at 11:15 am and the hostages are on another train on another track..."

Focusing on silly, unexciting parts of their adventures is pretty funny.

This was one of the handful of comics that was picked up by Ted Rall when he was in charge of United Features' comic strip division.

On top of my head, the strips Rall picked up were this, "Diesel Sweeties", "The Knight Life", "Secret Asian Man", "Minimum Security", plus editorial cartoonists Matt Bors and Mike Lester (Lester and Rall are friends). Of those strips, only "Knight Life" and Bors are around, with others being discontinued (Family Tree is in reruns); Lester moved to Washington Post Writers Group.
