Does anybody else sometimes get the feeling that a character isn't that funny, but because Will Ferrell (or any other famed comedy guy for that matter,) is playing it, we're supposed to accept that it's extremely funny? And now as I type this he's turned into Ferrell's signature "normal nice guy is actually insanely angry" shtick. Eh, s'alright.

With a 3 panel guest, they're taking up 66% of the joke time. They're extremely talented, but I'm just sick of them, especially on a show that gets great lesser known comics like Megan Neuringer, Ron Funches, Michael Che, Ali Wong, etc.

Here's this week's upcoming schedule, and as always, subject to change: March 10th: Kevin Smith, Jason Mewes, & Ralph Garman! March 11th: Dominic Monaghan, Howard Kremer, & Kulap Vilaysack! March 12th- 1st show: Wil Wheaton, Matt Mira, & Jonah Ray! March 12th- 2nd show: Nikki Glaser, Steve Agee, & Kyle Kinane! Just going by the names, I don't expect it to be nearly as amazing a week as last week. And Monday is the episode we've all been dreading.

It must be podcast host week. Howard Kremer and Kulap Vilaysack host Who Charted? while Matt Mira and Jonah Ray are Chris' co-hosts on Nerdist. I assume Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes have a podcast. I don't know about Thursday. You should listen to Who Charted? is what I'm saying.

I will not be completely happy until @midnight contains the ultimate showdown between How Did This Get Made and The Flophouse in pitting Paul Scheer and Elliott Kalan against each other. And the 3rd contestant will be Tom Lennon and he will finally win.

No matter what, Kevin Smith can't be worse than David Spade. No one can be worse than David Spade. That show would have been improved if he had never shown up. He was negative-funny.

The show is really at its best when there's a palpable sense that everyone is having a great time. That's why the Community episode worked so well when I didn't expect it to. That cast has great chemistry with each other and were just enjoying themselves. David Spade was the anti-fun.

I think Ferrell is great at working material that isn't so hot. I'll watch even average films that he's in because I know he'll generally put an absolute ton of effort to at least make his part somewhat funny. The guy just sells the hardest that he can, and has enough charisma to make me enjoy whatever he's doing for the majority. ashpanash posted:Just going by the names, I don't expect it to be nearly as amazing a week as last week. I didn't really watch much SNL until I read 'Live From New York' (which is superb and everyone interested in TV, comedy, SNL etc should definitely get a copy), so I knew more about the 'behind the scenes' of the show than its output. When I watched a Ferrell era episode I was stunned that he was in practically every single sketch of the night. Dude just seems to have an insane work ethic and I think that was the moment I was completely sold on him.
