It sounds as if they're going to to cut Penn if they sign Anthony Collins and ditto for Zuttah if they sign Evan Dietrich Smith. All signs point to them transitioning to a zone blocking scheme next year.

Aniki posted:Captain Munnerlyn and Henry Melton are both meeting with the Vikings on Thursday. Munnerlyn is only 25 and would be a big upgrade as a slot corner, though the Vikings would still need a starting RCB. Josh Robinson could fill that role, but I think it is likely that they'll draft a corner early in the draft. Melton would be brought in as DT depth and would presumably be looking for a short term deal. I am curious if they would use Melton to run some more 3-4 looks or set up big bodies across the line while moving Griffen/Robison around the field. Munnerlyn is appealing - would also be nice if they'd look into DRC.

Really would prefer that Captain Munnerlyn stay in Charlotte but I guess the Panthers are literally uninterested in re-signing anyone of note, so.

More interestingly now that the Bucs have effectively filled all the major roster holes they can do whatever they want in the draft. I'm betting if any of Manziel, Bridgewater, or Bortles falls to them the Bucs will take him. Maybe even Carr.

He's an above average punter but also an excellent kickoff specialist. 3 million probably isn't going to make them or break them especially since they still have 12 million left and if Relentlessboredom is right about cutting Zuttah and Penn to replace them with those other guys then that's not going to go down much. The only other guys they're looking to sign at that point are a wide receiver and possibly another corner who probably won't chew up more than 7 of that 12 million between them. That leaves 5 million for rookies which is just about right. Man, there's some serious loving turnover on the roster though. There's going to be at least 7-8 new starters next year by my count.

Yeah, I'm pleasantly surprised so far. I was sort of expecting a disaster, especially with Licht being another New England product and after his introductory press conference in which he came off as completely amateurish. The proof will be in the play next year, but right now I'm cautiously optimistic. The only thing that has me concerned is with them spending up to the cap limit is it will leave no money to renegotiate McCoy and David next year. But I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
