Amazing.

Packer execs who go elsewhere flounder. TT really is THAT good apparently. Peppers could fail entirely, have no sacks, do nothing at all, and the Packers are STILL sticking it to a division rival. It's almost incredible.

Plus there's the draft coming up. Is Ben Tate slotted as the starter or is there someone in Cleveland I don't know about who would be ahead of him for touches? Regardless, I'm very impressed with Cleveland's free agency moves, and honestly worried about the team this year. They've always played the Bengals close regardless (In part because the Bengals have honestly never been [i[that[/i] good), but they're actually looking like contenders for the division title if they can get decent performance out of their offense. Is it enough to make you happy for the Browns ham?

He'd be the primary back right now. I like the signing because it frees us up to take a 4th-round guy for 3rd and long or whatever, a specialist rather than an every-down guy. Which recently has paid off just as well as drafting an RB early.

And no, I don't fall for declaring wins during the offseason any more. I'll be happy when they're 5-1

I mean, the Bears did that knowingly to free up more capspace so I don't really see how thats sticking to a rival.

Considering that post superbowl the Packers have been an overall weak team with a very strong passing game due to a generational QB, I'd say they're extremely fallible. Kinda like the Colts in the Manning era except Rodgers consistently gets stud WRs to throw to.

Apparently the Lamarr Houston deal has almost no guaranteed money down and could walk away from Houston with no dead money:

quote:

Max deal: 5 years, $35M. Could be: 1 year, $9M

Houston's 2015 salary of $6 million does not become fully guaranteed until after this season, and with just a $5 million roster bonus, the Bears don't have any future cap charges hanging over their head. In reality, this is a two-year, $15 million deal, and the reality is Houston will have to earn his $6 million annual salary each year based on his health and performance.

Compared to Angelo this is loving wizardry to me.

Sticking it to your rival is more like signing their excellent starting defensive tackle (of which they have absolutely no replacement for) because they're so awful at managing the cap that they can't even keep one of the best pass rushers to ever play the game around despite fielding one of the worst defenses in NFL history just last year

Dr. Whet Faartz would like to know if this smells funny to you?

They would have owed him more than 8 million this year. I think it was 15 or 16 million? They gained money by cutting him. They had 8 million in dead money left over, but they still got back money by cutting him.

Packers didn't stick anything to the bears, other than signing a former bears player.

He's no longer one of the best pass rushers. He can still play, but he's more than lost a step in speed and agility.

Mostly the fact that if the Browns draft him it's means they didn't get Teddy/Manziel (which they won't) and I'm sick of grabbing a late 1/early 2 QB, I'd prefer to take a QB with the 4. I also don't think he'll be very good in the NFL.
