Fair enough, it just seemed like there was a contingent very fixated on DRC in particular and it seemed very strange to me, much like people treating the Broncos signing Talib as some massive coup. This offseason has been weird from my perspective because it seems like with the CBs in particular the market has been much more based on name recognition than actual quality of play.

Has safety Chris Clemons just been napping for the past week or so? I haven't heard anything about him meeting with teams.

I really want the Redskins to sign him because then I'm that much closer from being freed of the Reed Doughty Experience.

I love that even in an offseason where some teams have hosed up in unimaginable ways, the Jets still manage to stand out, even by doing nothing

Do the Jets and Giants overlap at the Meadowlands a lot? Because a mental image of Rex Ryan looking longingly at DRC in the distance day in & day out is almost too good to bear.

That or Rex rounding a corner & running into DRC, becoming a mumbling mess and shuffling off.

Well, DRC was very good last year and has a history of playing well as a man corner. He was a perfect scheme fit for the Jets and, as we can see, could have filled a major, major need at a reasonable price.

Idzik should have entered free agency with two things at the top of his checklist: sign Eric Decker and sign one of the top available CBs. Doing that would make the pathway to playoff contention pretty clear, as they'd only have major needs at WR, FS, and OLB entering the draft. As it stands now, he's let Verner, Talib, DRC, and Revis get away (not that Revis was realistic). It's pretty inexcusable for a team that currently has $28 million in cap space (going up to $35 million whenever Sanchez goes).

It's not a good signing (very bad in fact!) but come on. If Romo goes down, it doesn't matter if Orton's retired, Weeden or some other QB that's available is signed and put in to start. If Romo goes down, that team is going to crumble.

There are several GMs league-wide that have a concrete valuation of a player and present it as a take it or leave it situation. That's not something unique to Idzik, and it makes sense considering his background as a cap guy.

I'd have to see how the contract breaks down. It's probably a 2 year deal with a team friendly year 3 with years 4 and 5 just there for cap purposes.

I'm not saying it's unique to him or that it's inherently a bad thing, just that flexibility can be a positive in a lot of situations. I'm sure his style is going to be a plus in the future too.

At the end of the day, missing out on all the CBs this year isn't that huge a deal, but it's frustrating. On one hand the Jets were an 8-8 team and would have been a WC contender if not for that 3 game slide after the bye. On the other they were an 8-8 team with intensely erratic QB play and some lucky victories. The goal was never for the Jets to be competitive this early, or be a playoff contender next year, but it seemed to me that putting together a playoff caliber team (on paper) would have been fairly simple given the Jets cap space (this also assumes some improvement from Geno, which is far from a given). Idzik sitting on his hands pretty much signals that he's not willing to spend while the QB situation is still the way it is, which isn't a bad thing, but as a fan it sucks to watch your team fail to make itself better.

I said earlier that anything less than $8m per is a pretty good deal so I don't think it's terrible. Significantly beating that offer probably would have been foolish though.

Looks like we're back on the Antonio Cromartie train.

It's an interesting shift in priorities with the Giants in that they sacrificed DL depth to improve their secondary. What's the anti-NASCAR package where they have only DBs on the field? The Formula 1 Package?
