Imagine a dungeon crawling game like Descent where rather than rolling dice, looking at stats, and moving across a grid, you instead take aim and send your barbarian flying across the board to slam into the skeleton archer. Each player character and monster disc has their own little special abilities. If this sounds too silly or childish to you, you probably won't be into it, but if the concept sounds cool I don't think you'll be disappointed (assuming they don't gently caress up the kickstarter royally, but they have experience publishing the game and three expansions in the past so I'm pretty confident they won't.) I'm trying not to sound like a total shill here but it's one of my favorite games, even with the butt-ugly original art. Shut Up & Sit Down (among others) liked it too.

It looks like a fun game and I know some people that'd be really into it, but it kinda irks me that it's a Canadian project and I'll have to pay extra to have it shipped to Canada.

Tatum Girlparts posted:Oh this is that game where you literally throw your units at monsters and the 'special abilities' are poo poo like 'the barbarian can get flicked twice if it knocks a dude over' and all? Well, if by throw you mean "pick up and throw in an arc through the air", then no, they lay on the board like hockey pucks and you flick them with your fingers, and nothing gets "knocked over" since everything is a disc. I might be misunderstanding your wording and you're thinking of Catacombs, or you might be thinking of something else with a similar gimmick and theme, like Dungeon Fighter.

There's a new fantasy coins type KS up. The coins are larger than previous sets I've seen, have high relief, and a nice artificial patina. There's a good variety of sets available, though some of the prospective ones don't seem to be up to the quality level of the one's they've prototyped (eg. the steam punk ones feel kind of obligatory rather than something they're actually interested in). Anyway, worth checking out.

Dragon Crate This one's a bit of a potluck. You get some cards, a pair of dice, a coin and a dragon mini in a box. The maker has done a bunch of card games and dice games before. I'm not sure the dimensions of that mini make it useful for anything in particular. What it has going for it is good value, assuming it funds properly.

The fact that their Relic Knights kickstarter is still about a year behind schedule makes me very hesitant about backing another minis project from Soda Pop, especially without any support from CMON (which despite having bland game design, is at least better about getting product out, it seems).

On his wall he has boards for: four copies of vanilla Monopoly from 2 different printings, three(!) copies of vanilla Clue, the sought-after Simpsons edition of Scene It, a middle-edition Trivial Pursuit. The Tokaido Collectors Edition is in its last week. The remaining stretch goals are mostly "for fun," but I expect they'll hit a few of them. Still, the major component upgrades are pretty much all done with, so pledge with confidence. The game is also a pretty great cooldown game. Simple and elegant, although I suppose not the most satisfying thing in the world if you're looking to exercise your Machiavellian wits. Edit: And on the other end of the spectrum is Barbarossa.
