stories like blocks of text or stories like photos advertising the story and there's a tiny bit of text to one side?

if it's the second i've seen them around and i think they look kind of classy but i don't have a mobile device so i wouldn't know if they're frustrating or not

and since so many more people do now it makes sense to tailor your website to their requirements

I don't love mashed sweet potatoes, but I like roasted/in-soup/baked and topped with seasoned black beans and cheese sweet potatoes. Tomorrow we are having tempeh and rice, hope you like fermented soy mold! Vegetarianism is delicious!

They look nice and everything but it's bad UX.

And why do you think I hate them so much? I don't hate marquees anymore because the Internet has moved on from them. Hero sliders are already falling out of favor on new websites so I'm sure I won't care about them in 5 years.

We aren't vegetarians but a shocking number of our meals contain some of the following ingredients: black beans, rice, tofu, cheese, spinach, mushrooms, eggs.

Mashed sweet potatoes are usually bad although my college cafeteria (lol) did a sweet potato souffle that was savory and I liked.

Honestly, whatever I have lying around that would go well. It's usually sauteed greens and vegetables with a couple eggs poured onto them, maybe with a little cheese melted in. If I have smoked salmon laying around, I throw that in with onions and a little cream cheese. Fried rice is also awesome and great for using up leftovers, and I've made concoctions with leftover rice and beans as well. Eggs own.

Hot sauce of one kind or another is, of course, an absolute necessity

Tofu is a blank slate: if it tastes bad, it was prepared bad. If prepared well, it can be a great addition to a meal.
Plus, you know, healthy.

I kinda want that new MGS game, but I haven't spent full retail price on a videogame since I was 11 and stupid and spent my entire birthday money on Ape Escape (and a Dual Shock) for the PS1. Now, that decision happened to be fantastically good, but I don't want to try my luck. Or spend sixty dollars.

I was a vegetarian for 7 years and I started to like tofu once I gave it a chance. It's really versatile and, like detectivemonkey said, baked tofu is really good in salads. But even Jetsetlemming likes it and he'd never eaten it before he met me.

I actually miss my college cafeteria because it had a good salad bar and the stuff was always rotating and fresh. You can't really maintain the same selection and variety in your own home unless you eat salad for every meal and jsl would never approve of that.

On the one hand, there really aren't shows about cycling, and I want to watch a nice happy show about cycling and bike racing, especially if it's not just about who is doping. Being into road cycling is like being in a really small, expensive club no one cares about unless there is a scandal and also people nearly kill you on a regular basis and you often aren't sure why you do it except that it seems to be just as addictive (and costly) as drugs.

On the other hand, anime.

But happy bike racing and friendship, so...

Years ago I had a friend who was really into anime, so I asked him for a suggestion for something to watch because I was curious. I don't remember what it was called and only watched the first episode, but there were boys who went to a school and had to dress up as girls and then the older boys were going to be their 'mentors' about being beautiful girls or something. It was so awkward, and it was even more so when he didn't see how that was a weird and awkward thing to recommend someone who had never watched anime before because that was apparently moderate compared to other stuff, whereas I thought giving your friend sexy cross-dressing school kids was odd. We're not friends any more (not just because of that), I haven't watched any more anime, and I ended up becoming further convinced that anime is just weird kid cartoon porn because of him.

one reason I stay away from anime is that the whole crossdressing thing comes up so often and it turns my stomach because it has echoes of transphobia and weird gender norm issues and such
