Neddy Seagoon posted:They are definitely selling gangbusters. HLJ's sold-out on most of the BF kits. HLJ is sold out of most High Grade kits, period. I hope that's from Build Fighters driving everyone to buy Gunpla, but it could just be HLJ ordering no more than three of each item again.

I saw someone mention the idea of a 3DS game that would let you take pictures of Gunpla you made and then battle them out. I don't care how unfeasible that would be; I want to see it happen!

Well they have that arcade game where you build them and the game can tell via rfid what parts you are using. I'd settle for a skylanders or disney whatever type game but gundam version.

Okay that fight: At first it was kinda dumb and the way they got outright stomped was kinda stupid. Then the pounding on the deactivated strike was weird because they should have lost right there. Then it went into shonen-show overdrive with a giant asspull and an even bigger one to get RG working again. Then Star Build Strike RG system sword attack to Star build knuckledusters and knocking the paint off! and then a giant loving colony out of nowhere. I'll take my Mg Exia Dark Matter now Bandai.

Zedd posted:Okay that fight: Them getting stomped by the Embody system is entirely in keeping with what we saw against Aila. Aila kicked the poo poo out of them while she was Embodied up too and they only beat her when they broke its influence, just like how here they only started fighting back when they disrupted its hold on Yuuki. As for them not losing when the Star Build was deactivated, we've seen fights only end when one unit is totally incapable of function instead of incapacitated. Fenice was literally impaled on the end of Aila's spear and the battle ended due to Fellini conceding rather than losing, for example. Hell, Baker even commented to Mashita "hey shouldn't you have Meijin finish the job while you're winning" and Mashita was too busy gloating about how it was totally in the bag.

Pureauthor posted:They really should have made a standard Exia-colours version of that kit. Dark Matter is just a recolor of the original fully completed Amazing Exia. I'd expect a web-exclusive. And MG Exia RII came out recently, so Bandai has everything they need to make a MG Dark Matter. Again, I'd expect one. That was just great. Loved the fight, loved the finish, loved how Mashita's attempt to do things himself screwed him over. Also Aqua Discharge looks really cool! As far as I can tell it's "plavksy particles make plastic move" on overdrive, with whatever goes through the little rings exponentially increasing in acceleration. Seems to only be useful with physical weapons though, which is probably why Sei and Reiji haven't used it that much. Dunno why it's called Aqua discharge though!

Don't get me wrong, it all made sense but A little less one-sidesness would have been nice, it fits thematically and logically and all but I wanted to see the Plavsky Wings again. Maybe next week For something different: Sengoku Astray's extra weapons look silly and I love it

God I loving love this show, it's goofy and silly and amazingly cool and all the characters are amazing and I'm going to miss it after next week. Build strike punching the air before the particle field dissipated was the best loving thing. I also kind of want to buy gunpla now so thanks for that sunrise.

Watching this weeks episode cements the fact that they production crew are really taking a lot of jabs at the corporate heads of Sunrise. What with the chairman demanding that Yuuki win at all cost and the other higher up with the grandson that tells Aila to win the trophy. Every time the higher ups come in a demand results for some esoteric reason poo poo gets ruined and the fun is lost. However whenever the Gunpla pilots (read: staff of the show) say screw this poo poo and do what they want it all ends up being fun again. Looking forward to the final battle of 1:1 Gundam/Zaku vs. Every Competitor in the Gunpla Tournament.

Oh my god plavsky particles are EVERYWHERE and a life-sized A Baoa Qu just spawned and there's a 1/1 scale Gundam and Zaku II right outside and Yuuki + Sei lost both of their suits so they're gonna be like "let's pilot these!" and OH MY GOD

Neddy Seagoon posted:This is just silly and awesome-sounding. Clearly the second season would involve them moving up to Master Grade kits. I'd still prefer a second season have Sei and Reiji start working for the gunpla police under Sei's dad, with Aila, China and Mao joining them to form their own squad. You could have it start with Sei and Reiji doing gunpla promotion around the world the same as Takeshi originally did as a cover before getting mixed up in a plot with the gunpla mafia. Yuuki and Nils could be specialists they call in for jobs occasionally. That or just have a new cast entirely, with Sei, Reiji and the rest as cameos or background characters.

Aww, your Gundam broke in half when it dropped two feet onto the gameboard". I don't think it normally cuts out like that, since the final collison of Trans-AM Dark Matter Exia + Star Build Strike RG Double Build Knuckle looks like it comepletely overloaded the system. The fact that they could move very briefly afterwards makes me think the impact disjointed the system to the point where it couldnt keep them animated. ....Which just makes that final moment even cooler.

I don't know what Gundam I'm going to watch after this. The only other one I've ever seen start-to-finish is G Gundam. I'd been considering either 08 or finally watching Wing, but the fandom for the latter has driven me away for the better part of two decades. Maybe I'll start with Mobile Suit Gundam and move my way forward? But which ones do I watch, then? I don't have nearly enough free time to watch all of them.
