Tbh I've never eaten there since they're not exactly ceoliac friendly but the smell is gross and everything looks greasy. Go to a Wetherspoon's on a Saturday night. If you don't get stabbed its a perfect way to see a certain side of UK culture

Last night the lady in charge of my volunteering thing asked me where I was from. Apparently my accent doesn't sound Australian. Now I'm worried what I sound like.

I get that all the time. I roll my r's, apparently, the best word as evidence is "bear" because I say with an almost American accent. I think it's either because of too much tv as a child or it's the family tendency towards autism spectrum disorders. When I say that I mean I am diagnosed with nothing but an odd personality but my cousin is full aspergin' and he has a particular way of speaking with an almost American twinge that I have also noticed in other autistic kids. I don't know if that's really a thing or just some odd confirmation bias but maybe one of the Lady Thread PhDs can study it. edit: I guess phonetics would help, Australians would normally say Bear like "Beh" I say "Bey-hr"

jetsetlemming, i know you're probably not reading this, but if you are can you please tell amarantine that i genuinely like her and am concerned about her happiness and wellbeing and hope that she returns to the thread? there are certain posters itt who've set themselves up as regulars and are apparently beyond reproach despite having very little to offer in the way of personality, insight, or humour, and it's unfortunately the nature of the beast that they end up on top and genuinely lovely and genuine posters like amarantine lose out, but i'd gladly trade ten of them for one of her. thanks in advance.

As somebody who regularly posts far too much about their personal life, and is probably far too invested emotionally in these forums, this. There are people on the other side of every avatar, but it's important to realize that they can only do what you let them do. This is excepting crazy people finding your address and poo poo, but I really hope that's like some awful extreme and doesn't really happen all that much.

A little bit of vulnerability is how we bond and build trust and make friends. I think it is a good thing to make yourself somewhat vulnerable. Sometimes people hurt you but then that's how you learn to deal with hurt and become strong.
