I'm pretty into tech death, so it's worthy just to see Origin and Decrepith Birth live. The Faceless and the rest of the -core bands are pretty fuckin' awful though.

Did you miss Goatwhore on that list? Goatwhore is awesome. So's Dying Fetus. And say what you like about Thy Art Is Murder, but CJ's energy onstage is loving incredible. Dude was crowdsurfing and moshing and poo poo while performing. e: Unrelated, but King of Asgard is some catchy poo poo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HblP8090R1w venus de lmao fucked around with this message at 11:48 on Apr 25, 2014 |

Haven't Decrepit Birth basically been playing at 4pm on summer package tours for at least five years? I recall several times where I thought about going to see but passed because they were on really early.

Oh man, I forgot about Catacomb, thanks for reminding me. Like Timeghoul, they released a discography compilation pretty recently. Cool stuff. I should also mention Crypt of Kerberos at some point. Man, there were so many really unusual bands in the scene in the mid-90's that just disappeared. w/r/t death metal friday, been obsessed with The Chasm recently. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJ-HBUs8ve8

On the good black metal tip, I seriously don't know why the newest Cultes des Ghoules album "Henbane" didn't get that much attention. Still one of the wildest, most evil sounding black metal albums I've heard in a while. Here's one of the slow, brooding tracks, but they have fast slammers as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_uyAsszjM8 Gorilla Radio posted:I can't help but feel that it should be Good Black Metal Sunday because blasphemy. kirkjames posted:We are now on Good Black Metal Saturday The best black metal I've heard in the last few years is One Master's live tape. While the band's albums had a thinner, wispy production, this has a much thicker, harsher tone. The music itself is reminiscent of Darkthrone's Under a Funeral Moon mixed with Judas Iscariot's Heaven In Flames with a fair amount of repetition and mid-paced riffing, while the production has that crushing, vicious sound of early Gorgoroth. While a lot of black metal has that outdoor feeling of being in a vast forest under a dark sky, this sounds like it's in a castle's dungeon. Not quite like Det som engang var, more like Sargeist with longer songs with more structutured repetition rather than recycling riffs. http://novisiblescars.bandcamp.com/album/live-in-the-castle-of-quiet
