Regardless of the character, Basara 4 basically doesn't have one. Probably not a heavy crossover with people who would actually buy the game, but since when do you have to buy a game to complain about it? Which is hilarious, considering one of the US' best selling games of all time spends its entire last act shooting the US Army. Sure, people did complain about that game but it definitely had nothing to do with that.

Aw, that's a shame Basara 4 has less story than 3. Had a lot of fun punching dudes as hoodie Tokugawa and shooting rockets as Magoichi, and was hoping for more.

The best side effect for me of Sengoku Basara 3 was it taught my then-5 year old son that Ishida Mitsunari REALLY hates Tokugawa Ieyasu.

On the topic of Basara, me and the cousin who got me into the Warriors series to begin with were talking about it and the Samurai Warriors series a few weeks ago, and I brought up the ultimate hypothetical dream 'Warriors' game for me, a crossover between the two franchises. He brought up a point though, that the two series might not be able to keep up with one another, where I offered that the Samurai cast might be slower, yet able to take more hits, and the Basara cast might be more Glass Cannon like, due to the overall 'speed' of the Basara games. That seem to make sense, in such a scenario? Or, in other words, I suppose I'm asking for the thread's thoughts and ideas on how 'balancing' such a concept would work out.

Wow, this sounds bad. Wasn't Capcom really talking up the whole prequel angle before 4 came out? I figured it would have a bigger story like 3/3 Utage had but this sounds awful.

You're thinking too much about a pair of games that boil down to Hit square, Kill all the dudes, Have fun. A crossover would be cool though and they can easily change the casts to fit one another.

Early on you can also use cash at the barracks to get weapon materials that you can convert into facility materials at the merchant.

I'm trying to unlock Lu Bu's alternate story path. I did the optional objectives for the two missions that have them, but nothing changed in the branching mission. What am I missing? EDIT: Nevermind, there's a third star on a side mission I need to unlock first. If a mission has more than one star objective, can you play it multiple times and get one each time or do you need to do them all at once? whats the deal with the starred weapons? I have a couple of 2 stars and 3 stars. the damage isnt any better but the attributes like "jolt" have much higher numbers next to them.

More-starred weapons will end up with higher attack once you max out their proficiency. Big single star weapons start out hideously bad and end up extremely strong. The attributes are more likely to have bigger numbers at their start on higher level weapons but it's not a sure thing.

If you get a star objective, it gets saved so you can replay it again to get other ones. This is actually a requirement for Wei and Shu, one mission for each of them requires you to do one thing, and the other star objective is a mutually exclusive objective, it's impossible to get both in one playthrough.

What're our thoughts on the DW Empires games? I've only ever played 4 and 6 when it comes to Empires, but I thought 6 was pretty terrible compared to 4. Are any others worth it?

I've been playing 7 Empires a lot and it's pretty fun, though most of the fun comes from the creation mode and the strategy part is only kinda alright. They're fun changes of pace but it really feels like Omega Force knows they could do more but are afraid to pull the trigger on anything really complex.

This makes me wonder why they haven't tried to combine Romance of the Three Kingdoms with Dynasty Warriors for the Empire games. A proper strategy side, then also letting you lead the battle on foot instead of basic commands.

But then the troops would have to actually be useful whilst on-screen, which doesn't fly with current Dynasty Warriors where they're basically mindless barely-attacking 'why are you even here'.
