Oh man, the Blue Flame sword you get from the shades in the crypt is awesome. Doubles as a melee weapon and a sorcery catalyst, and enchanted with greater magic weapon, it does some serious damage with spells.

It helps if you have the preorder DLC and the transgressor's staff, otherwise you have to use the lovely sorcerer's staff or whatever for a long time. Black witch's is really good, until then you kinda have to get by on the hex staves until you can get the shrine of anime staff. So there are definitely some okay staffs to get you by through the game if you're going pure magic, by no means do you have to go miracles to go pure magic, you can do pure sorcery or hexes, but the best one is at the end yeah. Attestant posted:You have two hands with 6 weapon slots total. I'm sure you'll figure out some way to have both a staff and a chime equipped. Woosh! Somebody misunderstood the question. No doubt people are going to try to recreate that effect, but there's only so much you can do in post-processing. Those screenshots look like total rear end. Still, torches are pretty drat useless right now, other than in the gutter. Maybe somebody'll come up with something better than just turning the brightness way down and washing out all the colors.

I think it's some kind of cosmic miracle that I've only run into 2 legitimate hackers in DS2 so far. Dude was so bad he couldn't hit anything and then just disconnected his internet when he realised we were just going to stunlock him forever so he couldn't leave the bell tower.

CJacobs posted:Yeah actually it is. The ban word list is a byproduct of other players seeing your character's name instead of your account name: Through GFWL or Live or PSN, there are already systems in place to prevent offensive crap (which people get around easily). Since they can't monitor it, they took the easy way out to preserve the T rating and avoid offending people's sensibilities. In case you hadn't noticed there's no parsing on the ban word list so anything that contains the letters 'nig' (as in, Knight) in that order is gonna get censored. That's stupid and they were lazy about it. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure online portions don't need to be rated (which is why you'll see the dis-claimer "online interactions not rated by the ESRB" in a lot of games).

Is there any way to get a vendor with an unending supply of green herbs? I ask because I summoned a guy shirtless, fat and tanned guy named Cheech who just chain used green blossoms then ran off a cliff. Edit: Seriously he must have gone through 20, I'm at the hosed up spooky forest with the fat guys with hooks and have only found like five.

I've defeated the four big bosses but I'm missing the soul from the spider, am I meant to have one? I definitely didn't eat it, I've not touched any of the boss souls. The big spider before the man in the library. Also I assume the 'symbol of the king' doors should open for me now, although I don't have anything in my inventory like that?

Ornifex sells an unlimited supply after that. Captain Diarrhoea posted:I've defeated the four big bosses but I'm missing the soul from the spider, am I meant to have one? The "symbol of the king" doors aren't meant to open for you yet. You'll need to go to the Shaded Woods bonfire. When entering that bonfire's room, there should be staircases on either side of you, and three paths. Take the one on the left and you'll come to a Flexile Sentry mini-boss fight, and a place called The Shrine of Winter which will now open for you and let you get past the insurmountable pile of rubble.

For hexing Sunset Staff is the best in the game, esp. with dark infusion (it hits sorceries but who gives a gently caress when you wield the dark).

Hurrah for skeleton! Yeah I thought that one was pretty cool, it was a nice changeup from the battles beforehand, it had a pretty different mechanic / strategy for a dark souls boss but it was pretty intuitive to figure out (Don't kill them all as fast as you can, for once) and the lords themselves had a pretty cool look going on. That said the real boss of that fight was The Bonewheels

Oh that was easy, maybe it's a joke boss. Oh gently caress bone wheels! Better get the other lords down before I die. poo poo there are more skeletons now what the hell." And then you figure out what happened and it's not a bad fight at all.
