Even ignoring the fact there isn't a single useful energy weapon console in their tac slots, they actually have a mine damage consoles. Don't often see those in the wild, even on the worst pub builds.

So lately I've been getting a hankering to rebuild my Fed Dyson ship into something I can tool around more regularly. There isn't any advice on builds for dyson ships on the wiki, so I wanted to ask what you guys have done with yours. Do they work if you kit them out with DHCs and turrets, or do you have to stick to the beam-heavy science build?

Marshal Radisic posted:So lately I've been getting a hankering to rebuild my Fed Dyson ship into something I can tool around more regularly. First, you picked the worst one. If you really want to try and run with it, though, I hosed around with a standard escort fit on one and it was... serviceable. But if you're flying fed ships you really are better off in an Avenger or a Tempest, since nothing else really compares Fedside. And if you are afflicted with a horrible Science Boner for whatever reason I would still fly a Vesta over a Hooverboat. While the proton DHC's don't suck too much, they're far better for ganking than general combat since there's no real way to buff them and remain competitive with other purpose built ships. As a result, you really want to be able to cloak when using them, and since the fedhoover can't, you're basically just gimping yourself so you can fly a hideous ship

To be frank, I either go with the science version and fly it like a science-heavy sci-Vesta (Gravity Well builds, Tyken's builds, etc.) or stick with the tactical version (and build it like a Temporal Destroyer / S'Golth Escort). But yeah, Romulan DSDs are far more wowing with their battle cloaks and full Superior Operative boff crews, like most things Romulan.

Thanks for the advice, guys. I'm well aware of the Fed DSDs limitations; I was just looking for something to make it a little more useful. Rigged it up with a basic escort build, and it managed to work all right. Never top the DPS charts, but I feel like I'm actually doing something in combat, and that's good enough.

It means you won't get to use the subsystem targeting but who really cares about that.

So are the lobi crystals from the episode replay event a daily reset like dilithium refining or the standard 20 hour timer? If it's the latter, is there any place to see the timer or do I just have to remember when I got my crystals last?

It was pointed out to me earlier that if you have hosed up Omega Force accolades or are missing costumes from Klingon Honour Guard, MACO, Omega Force or the Adapted sets then you can go see Roxy on DS9 in the old Omega Force office and trade in your current gear to get back an identical copy and credit for unlocking the accolades/costumes. I finally got the Be'ves uniform for my KDF.

When I logged in today for some free lobi I was totally unprepared for what awaited me. It began like a session like any other; say hi in the channel and check what the duty officers have brought this time. That's when I saw it: "Evaluate Orion Tactical Bridge Officer Applicant", only a rare result so it was less likely to be useful but one never knows. Little did I know what lurked behind the innocuous reward icon... I now sit here, a man broken by the knowledge that things lurk in the dark expanse of space. Things that man was not meant to see. Things too horrible to behold. I only hope that my tale serves as a warning for others...

Get that universal out of your tac consoles as well. Either dump it or the dyson sci console. Other then that I'd second the fleet neutronium/tac consoles (crit chance) and then a a fleet warp core. Also what are you running for doffs? You can start saving EC for for the debuff cleanse warp core eng. and attack pattern. conn officers now that the ship is fitted.

I stopped playing a bit after season 8 came out. I destroyed all the PvE content (including ground STFs) and also what little there was of the PvP scene. Is there anything in S9 worth coming back for or is it just more of the same?

There's a new system for ground kits and a new set of queues/rep to grind. Nothing drastically new though.

It's not more of the same actually. Season 9 changed the game completely into a Cooking Mama like game except focused more on presenting a balanced difficulty curve while still staying true to the spirit of Klingon cuisine. I also think that the addition of Occulus Rift support really makes the new cell-shaded graphics come to life but reaction have been mixed so I'll leave it up to you whether or not you enjoy that particular aspect or not. All in all I'd say that it's probably all for the best. Also, if you do decide to check it out I'd recommend respeccing into singing fast-food vendor since gagh is a bit overpowered at the moment.
