Every year in the league I was in, there were stories about some school or another having some off-the-wall case that won because it was technically on-topic but the other team didn't know how to handle it. Add this to the fact that some HS level CX debaters will learn to speak practically using circular breathing in order to speak as quickly and relentlessly as possible, so that their opponents literally don't have time to address everything. And this is considered a valid method of debating, supported and even taught by coaches. It is the spergiest refuge of libertarians and know it alls. And I say that as a guy who did CX in high school.
