Cascadia Pirate posted:LA has better public transit than people give it credit for. My only experience with LA fans are UCLA (decent) and USC (the worst) but I imagine the hate is overrated. Yeah, the subway is great if you're lucky enough for its limited amount of stops to be useful for you. The loving Dodger Stadium Express is the worst, though.

LA is always hilarious to me because I can make it from my house to Citi Field in 45 minutes during rush hour when it's usually a 30 minute drive. NYC has like twice as many people as LA, the traffic in the actual city sucks, but the traffic around the city is EZ PZ

The only thing that makes Detroit's lack of public transportation bearable despite being a massive city is that a quarter of the population has left since 2000. Of course, if you are a resident who can't afford a car, you're still stuck with about 100 less buses than necessary, but it's not like you'll be going to Lions games anyway.

Man every loving day during the weekdays traffic is bad here around 8 in the morning and from 5 to 5:30 in the evening, I swear it never fails. Well, unless you take the back roads. Then it's not so bad

I always get stuck behind a semi and have to go like slow as hell every few miles after a stop sign because they take forever to speed up. That or there'll be a tractor in front of me and there's 6 perfectly spaced oncoming cars that keep me from passing for a while. The move to Denver in a few weeks is gonna be fun. Haven't driven in big, big city traffic in years.

Detroit_Dogg posted:It's really easy and nice to go to both Lions and Browns games. Cleveland has underrated mass transit. The RTA rapid train owns, is quick, doesn't fight traffic and the only risk of it being too full before you get on the first one you see is at the Brookpark station ultra super rarely (functionally never but it has happened) or the train back from the Browns Bowl of Misery immediately after the game. 6 bucks for an all day pass but I haven't been to the city since Christmas so it might have gone up again. Nice enclosed, wide walkway from Tower City to the Indians and Cavs stadiums as well so that owns too. I always marvel at the dumbfucks who pay 30-50 bucks to park downtown and then spend at least one hour and often more to get out of the lot. It'd be one thing if they were tailgating but most of them aren't. Or the couple thousand people who wait for a hour or more to get on the train in front of the Browns stadium instead of walking the ten loving minutes at most it takes to get to Tower City and the same connecting train everyone else has to get on. Clearly its better to stand still for a hour to go to the same place you can walk to in 10 minutes without an issue since downtown traffic is mostly frozen and you can get across intersections as you come to them since the traffic cops barely let any cars go through to let the throngs of pedestrians get by. I know, morbid obesity and everything is a bitch and all, but still. I've seen some real piggly-looking motherfuckers trundle along and keep a good pace with the crowd walking back. It can be done.

Really the best solution is to make sure your team's stadium is a good 45 minutes outside the city then constantly make awful pushes to get the Superbowl hosted there.

The best way to do Cleveland sporting events is go downtown the night before and gamble at the casino for like 12 hours and then skip the game and go watch at a bar.

Houston traffic is the absolute loving worst. Driving I-10 every day and taking nearly two hours to drive twenty miles is something I wouldn't wish on Cowboys fans.

Also Ndamukong Suh is super loving weird.quote:“I had an opportunity, probably a lot of you guys don’t know,” he said after the two-hour organized team activity Wednesday. “I could’ve gone elsewhere when I was drafted. I had that decision in my hands. I chose not to take it because that’s just the way I saw it.”

I guess it's his choice in the sense that he can refuse to take the field for the team at all. That's not a great idea if he wants to make money, though.
