Howard tried his normal routine of digging into the guests personal life, but backed off noticeably at times due to the darkness that he was finding there. It's not often that happens.

There is a man out in the world right now who is the next Billy West. Just as funny, just as quick, just as good with voices. If Stern cared, this dude could revitalize the show on an early Artie level. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJU0KVN4eek if you have an hour to burn. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFyo9b4_6iY if you have 5 minutes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QLh4SCclkM if you have 3.

I can't remember who Howard was talking to, someone from the Wack Pack (Pete? Not Medicated Pete, but another angry, Hanzi-like Pete), but Howard said to him 'If you're going to do something, be the best at it'. I've heard that before, but for some reason, listening to him tell the story of him being a dishwasher (and listening to it again during a Hanzi compilation as I type this) really stuck with me, and it won't leave my head. It's really great loving advice, as simple as it is. Now when I do things, I'm constantly thinking 'I have to be the best at this' and I've started to notice that it's making things better. Thanks Howard

Catching up on some random things, NPH's phoney phone call to a food-poisoned Riley Martin is loving priceless. And even though we've heard him before, I loved the Mike Judge interview.

That man must live in a constant hell. The comments are all funny too, everyone is telling him to go vegan and smoke weed, the cure to everything. Can't see them doing much with this other than "constantly making a noise to annoy a person" however. Farts usually work way better for that.

I just watched American Splendor, and I kept trying to remember something I knew about the film, something that I had heard about someone's sex scene. Then it hit me... Toby tried out for the Wack Pack and told a story about being in a film, I think aside from Splendor. The HSS contest was either the one with Bigfoot or the one where Bigfoot judged, it is.

I can't remember all the details about what happened, but I would love to know what he thought Diana Degarmo's mom was going to do after he called her 75 times to meet her daughter. Speaking of, I love how when he meets Diana in studio he is like "hello again, Diana" like she remembers him from their 25 second meet and greet at some event for deformed midgets who call radio shows. edit holy cow I forgot he legitimately thought she might go to his brother's wedding (link to one of the most spectacular prank calls of all time) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUm2XjZ-0OE Ribsauce fucked around with this message at 01:02 on May 25, 2014 |

"I'd already met her twice so it wasn't that big of a surprise when I met her in your studio," the little idiot insisted after he was in New York. I'm sure he makes an impression, but c'mon. He also insisted on having "connections" and "ways of meeting people" without the show but sitting in the handicap seats doesn't count. Ribsauce posted:holy cow I forgot he legitimately thought she might go to his brother's wedding (link to one of the most spectacular prank calls of all time) That call has one of my favorite reactions from Eric: "You shits! You loving pieces of poo poo!" I just wrapped up 2009 of the Eric Chronicles and I guess that's it? Artie leaves the show at the end of 2009, right? It kinda peters out with Eric being sick and losing his ties to the Bunny Ranch, but that might be the best way for anything with Eric to end.

The start of satellite until Artie leaves is Eric at his best for more than just Artie poking and prodding the little guy. I remember when people first collected all of it together and put it in a pack, I probably listened to more of that than anything else that summer. He really is the perfect Wackpacker. That test they gave that some fan came up with which turned out to be incredibly accurate, he fit to a T.

It's definitely not JUST Artie that makes Eric what he is in those first four years but Artie's departure was a decline of the show for me in general and as it stands now the only thing I've listened to since then have been the ETM packs.

I never listened to the first pack of ETM calls, it's amazing how entitled he is right from the start. I had assumed he only became that way after multiple times on the air and becoming a regular, but nope, right from the first call he's a little prick. It's funny when he's only called like twice and on his next call he says "I've been try--ing to call for weeks, when you were talk--ing about Las---Vegas." "Eric, you don't even live in Las Vegas." "I--know, but I want---to be part of the conver--sation when you guys talk about---it."
