Also technically, not every character in the show has 2 books of material remaining. Bran in particular is getting very close to the end of his written material. At least, so I suspect; they could of course add as much additional stuff as they want before getting to his actual last written material. Sansa and Dany are also past book 3, as is Brienne. I'm guessing by the end of next season we may have more than one character who is entirely past the books. That will be very interesting to see.

Honestly, after next season, there may not be anymore need for two threads. The last book of this series was published around the time of Season 1, and we are now approaching the end of season 4 with no firm release date in sight. There isn't much left to fear from people who have read the book in here. But yeah, Bran's stuff so far has been entirely from the 5th book. Imagine how slow his story would have been if they had stuck to the original timeline of events.

Like, if she thinks she is going to start pulling poo poo with him all of a sudden I think she is dead meat. Nobody but nobody puts Littlefinger in a corner. I mean, she might start getting little treats like dead Boltons and Freys left outside her door, but I can't imagine Littlefinger wants to gently caress her more then he wants to be king of everything. Yeah, I don't think he just wants to gently caress her, because he could have raped/coerced or probably even seduced her any time. He wants what he wanted in Cat, a woman he could love and who could be his equal. Sansa could be that.

Yeah I think Sansa understands that Littlefinger, like everyone else in a position of power in the show, is capable of doing terrible things if necessary. That's why he asks her if she thinks she knows him, and if I'm remembering correctly she doesn't really give an answer to that. She doesn't know him, not really, but she does know that she's in a position where he wants her around for multiple reasons. That's enough for her to at least know he isn't an immediate threat, to her life anyways, and she can actually start making some drat forward progress. Regarding the show catching up with the books, GRRM has to be feeling pretty tense right now. At the rate that guy gets books out I can't see the books staying ahead without some serious filler in the show.

I hadn't given this much thought but I've just seen several bloggers/articles which seem to be convinced that Sansa "invited Petyr in" before she became Dark Sansa. I think it's possible. It's possible whether she's playing him, whether she actually thinks he's looking out for her, or a mix of both. I remain unconvinced that she has suddenly become incredibly devious already though. She was still dumb as dirt just a few episodes ago.

I think he's extending his number of books in the hopes that he'll kick the bucket before he finishes them and he never has to write a decent ending because how do you even make an ending to this series without either bumming everyone out or going against the established themes. Death is much simpler. Edit: Now that I think of it, GRRM dying and not finishing the series might just be the most perfect ending possible. Nah he's just running into a problem of having enough time to adequately resolve the series with all of the threads he's set up. Based on how slow the last one was, if he tried to wrap everything up it would be horrible and unsatisfactory with lots of dangling threads or very weak resolution where suddenly everything happens at once.

My response will be very non-spoilery (no characters mentioned), just with general info. But suffice to say, unless the last two books are truly massive tomes and go at a very fast clip, it just seems unlikely to have everything wrap up in two more books.

Which is ok, but to be honest I think everyone is really wanting the aftermath of the last episode right now rather than a battle episode.

She half-consciously snaps and realizes what she has to do to survive. It's the concession to ugly reality that her father wouldn't make. She has to unlearn her upbringing now.

The season finale is going to have Jaime getting a raven telling him that Tyrion has been executed. Grief stricken, he walks down the steps of the Red Keep, only to hear Tyrion's voice. He turns around to see Tyrion standing before him. Tyrion begins to sing, "The Best Things in Life Are Free" while surrounded by dancing wenches. Roll credits.

Ever since Littlefinger spoiled her plan to marry Loras, Sansa has been getting much smarter. The perception that Sansa is dumb is wrong, I think. She's been in a position in which she has had absolutely zero agency for a long, long time, and she was very aware of that fact, so acted accordingly. That testimony was one of the first times in the series that she's held some sway over a situation, and finally got to do something.

Look how far the first 3 took the characters (except Dany, who has still only really had about one good season worth of meaningful plot).

Having the next episode in the North makes sense. The wildlings have been coming for ages, and Stannis is probably also going there. poo poo's gonna get real! Pretty sure Ygritte is gonna die, most likely really close to Jon. Ugh. She's the best. Maybe Stannis will use all the charisma he's been saving up to get the wildlings on his side. It seems like a tragic waste to lose all those lovely wildlings. oswald ownenstein posted:I don't know because I've only read through the first half of book 1 but everyone is saying ADWD was really slow and set in the same timeline as AFFC. I really want Dany's march on Westeros to end up the way the Greyjoys do: enormous pomp, very little circumstance. Westeros ain't got time for that poo poo, there's a real war a-coming.

He's someone who gives a couple of pushes here and there to create as much chaos as possible, and then takes advantage of the situation. Which he explains to Varys. Sansa suddenly starting to 'play the game' would not just be uncharacteristic of her character, it would be uncharacteristic of the books. She's more of a viewpoint than a character really. I'm all for her taking some initiative for once, but only if it's fair to her character as it's been developed so far. It's like people wanting Arya to gently caress poo poo up, forgetting she's a little girl with a toothpick.
