My uncle has one of those things in his living room. I always thought it was some stupid piece of modern art.

strangemusic posted:These are legit. Go into any decent mixing or mastering room and there will be some sort of device that breaks up reflections. The wooden grid ones are neat - you can use crazy math to produce a distribution of pegs with an ideally controlled, non-pattern-forming amount of effect on the audio spectrum. They also look cool and are fairly inexpensive to build. Or you can just stick a few pieces of furniture with irregular surfaces in the room and it'll accomplish the same thing.

I saw them another time before that and he climbed up the light fictures and hung upside down like feet up and was going nuts. They were opening for Killswitch Engage, so the audience were a bunch of douche bags with no idea who DEP was. We walked out on killswitch, they were being very goony and the fans were helicoptering their dick around. It was a poo poo venue anyway. Hardcore shows got to be seen at a small club, not a big theater place. yeah it would probably not be worth seeing either of those after like...a decade ago, holy poo poo

Apparently the top guitar was only a prototype. A word from the guy who made it quote:In thinking of a new guitar design, i have to rethink my conceptions of what a musical instrument is. A guitar is a 'chordophone' to be simplistic. It comes directly from the Renaissance, Baroque and the ubiquitous Lute. They had sets of four, five and six to eight doubled strings respectively.

so my friend grew out of his Mumford and Sons phase and sold me his mandolin and banjo. Am I ok to just leave them in the case when not playing or do I have to know go and get something like this? http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/oasis-oh-1-original-guitar-humidifier I have a few acoustic guitars from my teenage years and never heard of such a thing.

I've been in an isolation booth at -6 dB for a friend of mine's study when I was in college. It was infuriating, and yes, you can hear the rushing blood in your ears, and it seems REALLY loud until another normal noise happens. After a while it feels like your ears are constantly pressurized like on a plane before they pop. gently caress isolated anechoic chambers.

Haha, you almost had me but then I noticed the .ca not .com and realized it's a satire/parody, like everything out of Canada really though an online article with a link to an article in Wired where they didn't even talk to anyone involved in a study they clearly didn't really understand isn't evidence of anything but bad journalism

Uh they did talk to the main author? Here's the actual paper: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19829208 quote:Participants were asked to sit in a padded armchair in the middle of the room and put their feet on a cushioned footrest. They spent 15 minutes in the chamber in complete darkness. Participants were not told precisely how long they would spend in the chamber but were told it would be “several minutes.” They had access to a “panic button” whereby light and communication with the experimenter would be immediately restored. quote:Under sensory deprivation, 5 of the 9 participants saw “faces even though no-one was in fact there” (2 strongly); 6 saw “shapes and forms even though they weren’t there” (4 strongly); 4 felt that their “sense of smell was unusually strong or different” (1 strongly) and 2 “sensed an evil presence even though they couldn’t see it” (both moderately). Almost all (7) thought that they had “experienced something very special or important” at least to a “slight” extent. It's not exactly a large data set but the study is real.

I have a friend that played with a guitarist with a stump. Said he was really good. Just taped up his stump and then taped a guitar pick to it and let loose. That stump guitarist from the video is impressive but jesus christ, what is it with loving terribly flat and gutless sounding lead guitar tones? Jesus guys, add some flavor and color to your sound instead of the pre-printed settings that came in the box of your Boss MT-2 Metal Zone.
