Oh yeah, I know that. Horse should stay in just purely because it would make the forums more fun to read.

So far the consensus from the new poll thread is people don't like the horse because it's not sexy enough, because it's smiling, and because it doesn't fit the lore for the Glitch even though the people who wrote the lore in the first place are the ones adding the horse

I vote we call this kerfluffle Horseboobgate, who's with me? That way if people want to complain, they have to say "Horseboobgate" and realize that they're getting way too loving angry over something so inconsequential.

I am very glad that there are multiple people on the Chucklefish forums who are so invested in the lore of an unfinished game that they're willing to let features drop because it doesn't fit their idea of what the lore is supposed to be. I am not being ironic, this is hilarious as heck.

Last I checked, the Glitch were created to be a simulation of medieval life, by somebody or something which doesn't seem to understand either of those. Sure, the horse AI doesn't make much sense, but neither do most other things about the Glitch.

Y'know, the lore people have a point. When you look at ancient horse paintings, you didn't see no lady horses, you saw big throbbing horse dongs so you knew what a good horse the swordmans were riding.

Where's the horsepeen Chucklefish?!

edit: Also medieval art peeps were all about the ladies with exposed boobs. Boobs were for holding milk for babbys, not sex (or at least that's the excuse you could use to explain why you commissioned an artist to make an art of a mostly naked magic lady for you). It wasn't until the victorian era that people got so uptight that even that was too much.

The glitch AI is actually a pretty clever combination of the "totally not porn im serious" medieval depictions of women who're (much like a not evil space ship computer) supposed to be all caring and nurturing and virtuous, and the "just look how loving mighty it is!" warrior steed.

Not exactly. The Glitch were created to simulate the development of sentient life and civilization. Most Glitch groups would advance until the point where they found out they were completely artificial and then destroy themselves. The Glitch that exist in the game are the ones that got stuck along the way. For whatever reason they got stuck at a medieval technological level, except the individuals that somehow became even more glitched out and became self-aware, separating from the hive mind. Normal Glitch consider them dangerous as hell and cast them out or murder them.

Really, the Glitch are some pretty great bits of lore.

I don't know what the mod who opened that thread was really expecting to happen, if not internet arguments. It was always going to devolve into an argument where someone starts making crazy accusations and then cries that people are attacking them when they disagree.

Agreed, sticking a poll onto that thread as well was also a bit of a stupid move because its just going to give more fuel for complaints at a later point. :psyduck:

We're seeing it already, a few people have tried to inflate the reach of the poll by tying it to 'The Community' at large.

It's the subject matter. The humans are looking for VENGEANCE and/or a new home, BSG-style, and the Apex have an evil government to overthrow. People imagined that this meant epic quests to slay the tentacle monsters, unseat Big Ape, and so on. Add in things like the mysteeerious cultist temples in the world generator, and there's support for a good story when it arrives.

For now because Chucklefish are still adding features, the world's still a sandbox. I imagine once plot quests arrive we'll see the lore fill out.

There's a new monster spawning system, but it hasn't been configured yet. You can spawn monsters with the /spawnmonster command if you want to test the combat changes.

I like game lore and generally read all of it when it relates to a game I like. It's perfectly possible for a somewhat silly game to still have some serious bits in it and I think Chucklefish did a neat science fiction thing with the Glitch.

One bit of serious game lore does not stop me from building a gigantic penis out of pink dirt, now does it?

I'm voting to keep Horse-tits because I refuse to be grouped in with those whiny, dumb assholes who want a grim-dark game.

Also the Glitch are awesome and we need more variety in our fictional robots.

EDIT: Please make a lore entry that gives horse-tits a super serious and important place in Glitch mythology. I want to see some tears.
