That whole album is amazing, and for my money it's the best metal album ever.

That is a really dumb thing to say especially for a song with such bad drumming.

Look at these guys with their grandpas guitars. That's pretty cool, I like hearing metal changed into lighter songs sometimes; Hellsongs - Long Live Lounge album was a pretty good live album some some good metal covers like Walk by Pantera and Iron Maiden's The Evil that Men Do changed into lounge music.

Master is enough to sell me, and if I recall correctly, the opening reveals haven't really been all that spectacular.

I saw Solstafir three times this past week. Once in an abandoned warehouse, once when they decided to say gently caress it and play an extra half an hour longer than their setlist allowed. I was kind of meh on them before but drat, they're really, really loving good. Give them all of your money.

It's much more coherent than Heritage - most of the songs (with the possible exception of track #3) actually sound like songs rather than random assemblies of ideas.

Overall I think the classic prog sound they've hit upon largely doesn't do it for me - too much boppy quacky Hammond-organ style keyboard sounds, too many cheesy horror movie melodies. But there are definitely some great moments in here and I'm keen to see if it grows on me over time.

I do wonder what it's like to be in that band, though. The lead guitarist and drummer signed up for Watershed, and now they're doing something entirely different. I wonder how they feel about that.

So there's a band called Slugdge, with kind of a Cannabis Corpse "let's make all our song titles puns on classic death metal songs" gimmick, only with slugs. For example: Track 7 - Salters of Madness.

Anyway they have a new album out. It's cool and you should listen to it.
