Generally you just get under the guns and dps hard, stopping only for the Feedback Pulse (unless you can remove it). I've never really had a problem with that with well-geared goons.

EDIT: Feedback Pulse can really wreck you if you're not expecting it.

If the B'ger guns get bugged (and they often do), their lances can and will one shot you regardless of where you are positioned in relation to them. This includes back at the spawn. Which is why its best to go all in guns blazing, survivability be damned.

Someone on the forums posted:

2,000,000 EXP per school, 7 schools and 6K daily.

2Mil * 7 = 14,000,000 14Mil/6K = 2333.3 Days or 6.4 Years (aka after STO's 11th Aniversary) 2Mil/6K = 333.33 Days or 11.1 Months to max out ONE school.

Now of course this calculating at only one project slot, but considering the 5th slot doesn't open up until one school is at Lv 15, we're still talking YEARS to max out the system.

Also about $1100 worth of dilithium if you're rushing it from start to finish. :toot: And don't forget the lovely random chance to get very/ultra rare items, and the lovely random chance for decent mods even if you get one!

At least everyone can safely write off crafting again.

Wait for some idiot to blow their savings on rushing through the crafting trees and then start selling the poo poo they craft for MEGABUX on the exchange. It'll be cheaper and faster than doing it yourself.

Some idiot from that Accolades fleet already did. Why you would choose to blow your dil on something as worthless as ground weapons.... :iiam:

e: I'd rush beams and cannons myself, its not that bad. Only ~2m dil to be able to craft the good stuff, but at 14k dil & 20h per attempt, its not worth it to me when some idiot will do the work for me and sell it at a loss for EC.

Yeah, that's basically it. It's a massive expense with no real guarantee of any actual profit. If you maxed it out in the first week or two and had dilithium to spare you could probably make a bit on ultra-rare weapons or consoles... but then a bunch of other spergs would get there too and start undercutting you. And since you could only pay dilithium to raise your skill, basically trading a big amount of that for a maybe reward. It's definitely a game for the patient, waiting for the market to slowly flood.

The whole thing's a joke of a system, designed as a massive money sink for the whales. At least the patch moved all the crafting crap to a new tab instead of clogging your bank, it was worth it just for that.

They can drop from the R&D Assistance doff mission from SFA and the klank equivalent, costs 1000dil and takes 2 days like the General Recruitment mission, can also give school specialists. The drop chance from specific STFs (don't know which drops what) is supposedly <5%. So yeah, dil black hole at it's finest.

Though it likely doesn't apply, logic would dictate that they'd want people to use their new lovely system besides the original few that used the old crafting system. By that assumption, you'd think they would want to modify the system as a whole so that people would actually use it, instead of making it a hilarious failed money pit for a vast minority of the playerbase who would otherwise continue to play space barbie dressup and buy things from the zen store instead.

So I started up another alt and as I approached 15 I figured I'd try just actually crafting things they would use and see if that was any help. So I looted all the mats I could in the missions from the tutorial on, and when I hit level 15 I went to craft an item appropriate to that rank (mk IV body armor) that was white quality only to discover I was missing the materials needed to make components. So I check the exchange and everything is either in stacks of 999 and costing millions or single items going for like 10-50k EC a pop. I'm sure that's partly just the market being hosed at launch but crafting is 100% useless for anyone starting out now. Not to mention you'll hit 50 in a week and still only be level four or five in a single crafting school that still can't craft any good mk XII gear that is going to be thrown at you for free from drops and rep rewards.

Wizard of the Deep

Another productive workday
The other half of that problem is the exchange interface is loving terrible. There's no way to say "sell these 500 contraband at 50k ec each", it's"sell this stack of contra for X ec", repeat 17,000 times. The Exchange REALLY needs some attention, but I'm sure the back end is so fuckered up that it won't happen until something breaks hard, and we're without an Exchange for two or more months.

So if they removed all the dil stores does that mean you are no longer able to pick up purple quality crazy Romulan full auto guns? The one he's thinking of is the Plasma Piercing Beam Rifle, and that was never craftable(Old or new), nor has it ever been in the Rep stores. The only purple grade version of it, like the other weird-rear end Romulan weapons like the Charged Burst Assault, were in the old Dil store. They've been removed without recompense.

The easiest way to show the weapons I mean is to go to the Romulan Flotilla and look at the common ground weapons None of the normal weapons are there, only the 'weird-rear end ones' that he and I are on about.
