Both the Bay area and LA are worth visiting. San Simeon, Big Sur, and Monterey deserve a visit too. Never go to the Inland Empire.

I'm either doing tourism really right or really wrong because my itinerary is always the same: 1) Street food 2) Day drink 3) Historical, cultural, or personal attraction 4) "Good" food 5) Nightlife (see, e.g., 1 and 2)
