Bruce's little pursed smile of annoyance kills me. None of that really has any business being in the movie, but it's an American blockbuster with a French sensibility.

The typography there is a little annoying, but the other small details make up for it; love the way Innaritu's name appears on the banner, and the way the supporting actors' mugs are subtly worked into the poster. Not to mention the Birdman himself.

I don't really like this matrix poster, but it has a glow-in-the-dark version printed on it, which is pretty cool: Bonus non-glowing variant:

Aside from the title, I like it. In the non-glow one, it just doesn't look clear enough. In the glow one, however, I don't like it in green because it blends in with everything else and it also doesn't look clear enough.

Yeah, the TV overlay just seems weirdly thrown in there for last second exposition (unless it's meant to be a TV screen her eyes are reflected in, but then I don't know why they wouldn't mock the whole thing up to look like the news). Too bad, because I think jpeg digital corruption stuff can look interesting on its own.

rawillkill posted:Two more for Gone Girl: I'm glad the second one at least axes the dumb tagline. Do you think the TV news crawl would be more effective if they maybe composed the image as if it would be run horizontally (like a widescreen TV?), while keeping the main text vertically legible? I also think that the more subtle digital corruption in the first one might be better than the second one, but it might just be the effect of Affleck facing away. Thoughts?

rawillkill posted:Two more for Gone Girl: I get that the point is that they're emphasising the role of news media in the narrative, as well as subtly hinting at the unreliability of narration through the glitches in the screen (both of which are key parts of the book as well) but these make it seem like some sort of hacker techno-thriller (it's not) especially with the eyes in the sky.
