When they first introduced the fleet ship system they buffed the galor & bugship to their current level.

I would be amazed if they didn't buff all lockbox ships to tier 6 level when Delta comes out. After all they want to keep selling lock boxes, right?

There are two precedents that have been set- the first, as you note, is when the JHAS and the Galor got updated to fleet-ship stats. And I think they'll do that again, and update all of the lockbox ships to T6. There's just too much real money involved in past and future lockbox ships for them to ignore that.

The second precedent is the Fleet Patrol Escort Refit- the old FPEs were left unchanged, with no free upgrade option to their replacement. I assume they'll take the feedback they got from that and decide to do the same thing again.

Given that their panic moneymaker is to re-release bugship drops I can't see them not updating lockbox ships to be in line with T6 stuff.

Deadlock.

There's two Voyagers unknowingly overlapping in the same space after they go through the duplication field, Voyager A and B. We follow A initially. A is a couple of seconds behind B - they're about to start their plan to fix what's wrong with their warp core, but before they can they start getting wrecked by the side effects of B doing said plan. And when the Vidiians attack, it's B that they see, A is invisible to them. B was the real Voyager. It gets blown up due to the Vidiian attack. A, the duplicate, survives.

Over the course of events, A's Harry Kim gets blown out into space, and Janeway B sends Kim B over the rift between ships to A as a replacement (along with Naomi Wildman B, because Naomi A miscarried in birth due to the ship falling apart earlier in the episode after Voyager B unwittingly fucks Voyager A over). Rest of the crew can go gently caress themselves, though.

You just reminded me Vidiians were thing. They were one of the few genuinely creepy bad guys (in concept at least). Also would have been a great race to use for the creepy surgeon Iconian slave race, but I guess Elachi was less licensing hassle.

I'm honestly shocked they didn't try to mimic WoD and do a time travel thing. I think people would have give crazy for an expansion where you get to hang out with characters and ships from the shows. Then again Voyager is bizarrely popular.

Yeah that Romulan one in particular is exactly what I was hoping for. So long as the stats aren't totally abysmal.

Honestly the "new classes" of both ships and Boffs are intriguing. We have escorts/cruisers/science as the holy trinity but those lines are heavily blurred by now. As distinct new play style would be huge.

More seriously though, STO has done pretty good even with the lovely dregs of Voyager lore. I mean there was content patches focused around the Voth (one-note single-episode dumb race) and undine ("kewler than teh borg!!") and wound up with fun queues and at least one decent episode per, so I'll be cautiously optimistic.

Unless I'm missing something, there is no incentive for them to update past lockbox ships and every incentive for them to not offer an upgrade. Introduce a Galor T6, and all Galor T5 owners will get instawood to have the latest and greatest.

Those that don't pine for the upgrade are just taking up bandwidth.

The main reason would be future consumer confidence. If they set a precedent that lockbox ships can be entirely deprecated come a new expansion, people may be a lot less inclined to blow a shitload too much money hunting for them.

In addition to taking the hit with confidence, it's a missed golden opportunity to introduce some Zen/Dil/Time sinks to upgrade the fleet of ships most people are carrying, and maybe, just maybe improve some shitboxes like the Galaxy that have been left behind in the power creep or fix some layout options on ships like the Defiant.

The devil will be in the details since all the designs they've shown so far look like rear end, but they'll piss off the whales if it's nothing more than just a "Rebuy all your poo poo again!"

Yeah I'm really hoping since they're doing the 'improve the Voyager' thing they'll take it as a time to improve all the series flagships. After all, from a marketing point of view, the Galaxy, Defiant, Intrepid and Sovereign should really be head of the pack here.
