While you can wall off your garden perhaps more effectively on G+, if that's what you want (e.g., Zak's clubhouse), I've found most people I give any shits about don't really do that. I also just like the interface and control better than Facebook, and there's certainly less obtrusive advertisement. And, as has been mentioned, it's much more conducive to actually getting games going.

I had meant to post a while back that the continual fall of GMS was a sad subplot to this whole ordeal. My opinion of him before was that he was just bullish and overly-aggressive to his critics. If you look at his non-RPG related posts you see a guy who seems like a genuinely good person, and seeing him throw his lot in with Zak, almost %100, is sad. Even StephenLS tried to talk some sense into him via twitter. I think at this point he's just too shell shocked from the whole Far West ordeal. I have no doubt that people have said and done some awful poo poo to him as a result of the delay, and I think he just see trolls wherever he goes. Naturally, he'll defend anyone against what he perceives as trolling. It's impossible for him to see the forest for the trees at this point.

Even StephenLS tried to talk some sense into him via twitter. It's really just a matter of people wanting the people they support to be good people. But they're not, people are flawed and part of maturing should be learning your flaws and trying to change them. It's hard not to fall back to the Geek Social Fallacies, because they really are applicable to a hobby that has tons of people that define themselves by their (perceived) detractors instead of maturing past them. If you really support GMS/Zak/whoever you would never bring up how they act terribly, but since you do bring it up you must be a Bad Person and as such deserve no respect in any way, nevermind that you'd prefer that they act like decent people and would love to support them if they did.

For the record GMS has always been a huge dumb dorklord even before Far West was a twinkle in his eye. I admit that it's grown more pronounced over the years but it wasn't like he was some super cool and laid-back dude who turned angry and bitter because of trolls. Remember, this is a guy who, when someone "trolled" him on RPGnet by registering an account with a similar name to his, posted his phone number for everybody to see and dared them to call him. He is not a clever man, is what I'm saying.

Being fair, Elminster does have an actual last name. It's just that it's Aumar, and no one can hear it without making constant "The Wire" references and wishing he were played by Michael K. Williams.

No, that's Ubtao. Finder is just a human bard whose unusual quest for immortality and apotheosis was the centre of a kinda neat novel trilogy, The Finder's Stone. Because of this, he has a very odd portfolio, which is just a mixture of random stuff he had something to do with in the novels. So he is simultaneously a god of Saurials (proto-Dragonborn), reckless fools, and the transformation of art.
