I could understand it as an inspiration for gimmick builds, I guess. Trying to twink out with a limited pool of resources. Limiting the DPS just removes the point.

I actually do this, each of my alts uses a certain damage type and goes all in on the faction gimmicks. I was getting some flack from my fellow dentists in an STF because I was running the full Tholian set with all the Tholian rep abilities and all Tetryon weapons on a recluse carrier. I have my kitted out Galor on my 'disruptor' alt and a kitted out JHDC on my 'polaron' alt for when I actually care. ... But I can still solo a tac cube, this game is so easy and pubs are so bad that even with a complete gimmick build you can faceroll through the content

My Fed uses phasers, my Romulan uses plasma and my Klank uses disruptors and Grand Admiral Thrawn uses a Star Destroyer. The difference is I don't then arbitrarily restrict myself beyond that.

The trick is to remember how easy PVE is in this game and just roll with whatever the gently caress you want. I've carried pubbie STF's in a fleet catbus you should be able to manage using a slightly suboptimal torp.

Hell, if you want to go full missile retard take the Ferengi missile launcher, the bio-neural warhead and the spatial charge console, then set up in an Avenger (missile that shoots extra missiles at random), a Mogh (missile that drops mines), the Tal'shiar Destroyer (shrapnel torpedos that split up into dozens of missiles) or a Ferengi D'kora (even more missiles) and use their unique missile as well. If you're smart about it you'll do more dps than pubbies and have fun, and if you're not having fun then why the gently caress are you playing this game.

I might shift it back a few times for funsies but I don't really want to spend another 200 lobi crystals for a second one. umm, in case you weren't aware, you can save loadouts so when you swap ships, it'll switch to that loadout including doffs, traybar, and the equipment on that ship. You only need one of any item anymore unless you are equipping multiples on the same ship.

Well then, here is another tip that was added when they allowed the saving of load outs. If you click a slot in the ship inventory screen, a new window will pop up and allow you to swap in gear to that spot based on what you have on other ships, inventory, and bank. Which makes it easy to update your fleet of ships as you gain new equipment.

He's doing the community a service by actively finding trolls and other malcontents and posting their names to his pastebin so he can warn others about them.
