Serious post: Although the jury of history sometimes takes a long time to deliberate, historians will probably judge the 1990s as one of the most pleasant times to live in the United States. Between about World War I and now, the only times that the United States didn't face either a) external war, or threat of war or b) economic crisis or other domestic disturbance or c) both was between...1920 and 1929, and between 1992 and 2001. And on top of the economic prosperity and lack of conflict, the 1990s were also a time when there was a lot of culture to choose from, and people's minds were really getting opened. It really was incredible when we went from "computers are monochrome boxes that you might have if you are rich, and you can play a few games on them" to "everyone in the world can use the internet!", and to do it in six or seven years. I mean, the difference between the internet of 1992 and 1998 was incredible. So yeah, the 1990s were pretty awesome.

the most underappreciated thing from the nineties was the computer game "Battle Chess" it had human/monster figures that stood in for the chess pieces on the board. they could do all kinds of rad poo poo, like the queen was a sorceress that could fry dudes w lightning, the king could kill the queen by flashing her his dick, the bishops had secret spearpoints on their shepherds crooks and also could burn dudes alive with magic, the rooks were stone golems that crushed poeople to death also bishops could open holes in the board with magic into which dudes fell to their death it was super violent and gory for a chess game

I dont think it was under-appreciated. Didn't they make like 20 versions of it like "Star Wars" etc? It was pretty popular.

Whenever you started up (via DOS prompt if I remember correctly) it would flash a code and then you had a code book and you had to find the password in the book to match the code. Huge pain in the rear end. Eventually I lost the codebook and was never able to play again.

It was fun until everyone finished school, tried to find a job, and found out that everyone's parents are still working and not planning on retiring anytime soon. so your opportunity for advancement is stalled and you're stuck working an entry-mid level position waiting for gramps to retire(or die) not being able to afford anything close to what your parents had at your age and have to constantly face them and society as a whole as they ask "why don't you have kids yet?" "when are you going to move out?" "when I was your age I was a manager already. whats wrong with you?" and you have nothing to say. you could blame society or your parents or the economy or all the loving baby boomers still clinging tenaciously to their precious jobs. time for you to retire and make room for the next generation assholes. if you were born between 1946 and 1964 its time to hang it up old man. you've had 35+ years time for some fresh blood. you're a blight a burden and nobody appreciates you hanging around. you are the reason the economy is stalled, why your children can't find work and are still living with you. If it continues like this we will have a nation of failures raised by failures born of idiots who don't know when to stop working. also, does anyone remember "mutant league"? I loving loved that show.

The 90's were the only time I was ever happy. I was born in 88 but we lived in Las Vegas and I ran with older kids. Music and film was so amazing back than. I remember having sleepovers and watching Kids and being freaked out by the rape scene. I remember stumbling upon Fire Walk With Me and not being able to sleep for a week. I remember the girl who's parents died in a car crash, and she was forced to live on her own. She ended up prostituting and another friends dad would pick her up, and tell us about when he got home.

The most vivid thing about that I remember about the 90's in the 90's was that in my elementary school there were paper numbers on the wall of all the classrooms to tell us what year it was. I distinctly remember the teachers changing it from 1997 to 1998 and that's about all I actually cared about the 90's at the time. Hard to get nostalgic about something I barely comprehended; I might as well say "childhood was cool or whatever."
