Forgot. It's "The Summer of More Everything" Literally half off every main smartphone's 2 year contract. So ya, Note 3 for 99.99. 5s for 99.99 etc. I should clarify, pretty much any smartphone that isn't outdated will be half off the 2 year price. Also, there is a promo for a free iphone 5c 32gb (199.99 reg 2 year price/99.99 SoME promo). This promo is somewhat selective BUT you don't necessarily have to be upgrade eligible yet. I've seen a few that were a couple months out. Favorabilis Solitud fucked around with this message at 03:36 on Aug 17, 2014 |

Is an old Razr Maxx worth buying at this point? My GNex just met an unfortunate concrete floor, and I'm trying to decide between a Droid Maxx and a Razr Maxx for half the price. I honestly don't do much on the phone, except wifi tether with my laptop/tablet on occasion. Battery life and signal quality are probably my two biggest complaints with the GNex. I'll probably replace it again when VoLTE finally rolls out, I just don't want to spend a lot right this moment

Razr Maxx or Razr Maxx HD? Razr Maxx is 3 years old at this point, while the HD's 2 years old. I wouldn't buy either one, best case is it'll have a battery that's been worn out. The Kit Kat update was also reportedly not kind to the HD, and made it into a laggy mess.

I defintely would not get the original Razr Maxx since those TI OMAP procesors were sluggish even in 2011. If we're talking ~$100-120 I would jump on a Razr HD tbh.

$73 for a Razr Maxx, $110 for a Razr HD, and $165 for a Maxx HD. I'm really needing to replace it ASAP, as I have no backup phone at the moment. I'd splurge on the Maxx HD, since it seems to be a step up from my GNex from a hardware standpoint, and giving me a larger (non-replaceable) battery. Was the LTE reception on the HD/HD Maxx better than the original Razr Maxx? That's really my biggest complaint with the Gnex, as well as the crappy battery life. I don't mind the speed of it, I just hate carrying a charger/battery pack everywhere. Edit: What's the current hot Verizon phone, anyway? I honestly haven't been following phone releases, since I haven't had a reason to. Grandfathered unlimited means no more subsidized upgrades. Since when has it been official policy to not provide SIM cards w/o a phone at corporate locations? Wife's phone is used for personal/business, and we spent all morning with Tier 2 tech support for them to tell us a new SIM card is needed. She has to go to work, we have Tier 2 notate the account, & I go to two different corporate locations on my wife's behalf and they both tell me to pound sand because she has the phone. They read off the account notations but nada.

Were you asking for the new sim card to activate yourself or were you asking for them to replace the sim card for you? They will never give you one to activate yourself but should do it for you.

Does the $60 2GB plan work for existing customers? Have to be out of contract? Any ideas if it will be gone by iPhone 6 time? Surprisingly competitive for Verizon.

The $60 for 2GB is a standard freely available non loyalty plan now. If you're a dealer it's available in the standard Iconic workflow.

I have a really dumb question. It's marked as a "single line" plan. Can I have multiple instances of this plan on the same account? My wife and I are on a Share Everything plan. Switching to this would get us more data, at about $10/month less than we're paying now, even with my work discount. Edit: found it in the FAQ, if I want to save the money I'll have to split our plan back into two separate plans

You don't need to split into individual plans. You might have trouble finding someone to set it up the way you want, though. I've done it multiple times at work.

So, we use a lot of data. I think we're up to 40GB a month now. I know, it's crazy, but it's our only source of internet and we are kind of stuck that way for the time being. And now my girlfriend has her line enrolled in the Edge package. I'm not so hot on it but maybe that's what I should do? My other options are waiting till my 2-year is up and getting a new phone then or buying a phone and going month-to-month. So, it possible to do this? Is one of these options better for me in the long run? Are there any downsides I don't know about?

I was just going on this line in the FAQ for that plan (emphasis mine):quote:The $60/2 GB smartphone single line plan is a promotional voice, text and data plan specifically for smartphone customers who have only 1 line. The way that reads, if I wanted to put two phones on the plan, I'd have to break them up into two accounts, get two bills, et cetera. If that's the case, I'm not sure it's worth the extra hassle for the relatively small savings. If it actually is possible to have multiple instances of this plan on the same account, hey, that's cool. I'll probably try calling to get this set up soon. (Don't suppose any of you Verizon reps that have done this work in Saint Louis?)

Weird Uncle Dave posted:I was just going on this line in the FAQ for that plan (emphasis mine): It's "for" people who are by themselves, but works on multiple lines. So far the signal holding and acquisition on the Maxx HD is a million times better than the Gnex. I've only swapped SIMs and let my Google account do its magic on the phone so far, still need to restore some app data. But tomorrow we'll see how the battery life compares. Also, the VZW image on this phone drives me nuts. Luckily it looks like I can root/unlock and flash it to something better, but that's for a different thread.
