Hey cool, Templar Intrigue arrived! ... and they directly affixed the shipping label to the box, which you cannot loving open without destroying the box. Jesus loving Hell, who makes that a Kickstarter exclusive?

From someone who failed to dodge out in time: Unless the final fur & touch-up stages vastly improve the quality of the sculpt, I think the quality of the Ice Age mammals minis are actually going down with each subsequent update. The grainy Instagram filters are not really helping this impression. I mean, I'm kicking it around the 'flying butts' level of Sculpy experience here, so I'm kind of hoping I don't get something I could have made myself. That being said, I have been getting a decent amount of schadenfruede out of seeing them rail on Reaper and others about their totally awesome spincasting experience, then need to issue a 'Whoops' update when they designed something too big for their spincaster.

Got my copies of Templar Intrigue, This Town Ain't Big Enough for the 2-4 of Us, and Burgoo yesterday. They look pretty snazzy (Burgoo's instructions also have a recipe for burgoo on it, which is a neat touch). Can't wait to try them out. In other news, I got the tracking number for Coup: Reformation, and looks like it's arriving...today. Alright then!

Dark Dungeons ( https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jrralls/rpgs-are-evil-dark-dungeons-the-movie/posts ) is out and available for purchase at $5 now. We watched it last night, it's clearly a completely accurate description of RPGs. First 8 minutes are at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LADLv1803Vw

I wen't to a private school and on Fridays we had very casual elective classes. I got credit and a not-insignificant book budget for years to run a D&D game for three hours every week. And it got me laid. But seriously they only want five bucks for it and if it's a faithful adaptation of the source material it's probably worth a laugh. Hell, I spent 20 bucks plus shipping for the DVD of The Gamers back when that came out and in retrospect that movie is pretty embarrassing.

Dark Dungeons is ok, I was in at a low tier level and it's a pretty ok parody of the tract. Someone really needed to sit them down and explain the difference between making fun of after school special kinda awkward acting and just acting really awkwardly though.

"It's a very fun game, quick, fast, simple, quick." "Mechanically it's simple." "Such depth to the interactions that are possible that it's always going to be interesting every single time you play." It is also a bad video in that they clearly have no idea how to actually talk about or sound excited about this game they are trying to sell you. This is seriously one of the most anemic Kickstarters I've seen in recent memory, which kinda contrasts with how sorta full of itself it is. Like using ~*~Hollywood star power~*~ to shill your game? But not really shill the game because they're not even in any of the videos? C'mon, now. Custodians of Dust also makes you sound like janitors. If you are playing janitors, you should probably show that since that is a fun and unique theme. Unfortunately, I don't think your game is interesting enough to do something cool like that, though.

Are there player-versus-player mechanics or is it entirely PvE with some sort of vague promises of palace intrigue? quote:While the players all succeed if the enemies of the Ornax Empire are defeated, the accumulation of Victory Points along the way determine who is the ultimate winner among the Councilors. This is a whole lot of words for telling us that, in spite of the game claiming that everyone is the winner, there really is only one victor (as in every game, ever). I really don't understand this whole Emperor's Champion thing either, it really just seems like a silly lore-filled consolation prize for the person who finishes last. quote:The dynamic this creates makes every decision by each player a thoughtful and important choice that could save or doom the Ornax Empire. Yes, but how? Is this game going to be a TCG, or one solely with pre-made decks? Do you have any better shots of the card art besides blurry shakycam in that very short second video, or of any physical demos of the product at all? All this Kickstarter offers us is some vague overview of something that sorta looks like a game, but with nothing else to show for it. The prospective backer has pretty much nothing to put his money down on besides the empty words "fast-paced, cooperative card game with a competitive edge for 1-5 players." I wish you all the best and everything, but it might be worth taking a look at other successful card game Kickstarters from the past couple years, viewing their pages, and asking yourself "what did these successful people do that I haven't?" Most will have more concrete info about rules, actual samples of the aesthetic of the game, testimonials from independent playtesters, in-depth design credentials, etc. Your page is missing all of that. At the expense of dog piling, the 'About Us' and 'Risks' sections say absolutely nothing at all except that you have a US manufacturer. Who are you? Why should people trust you? It sounds like a bunch of gamers sat around and said "fantasy flight games sucks, we could do better." And started a company. Experience? Knowledge of gaming and business? Anything to say in your favor? And also the risks aren't risks. It's just a WE CAN DO EET! What if some of you get sick? What if your printers factory burns down? There are always risks. Be up front with them. In short, less corporate double speak, more up front language.

CirclMastr posted:Thanks for your feedback everyone. I'm working on making changes to address the issues, and added a link to the instructions (which you can get here). Put a white box behind the text or something, trying to separate the rules from the background is really annoying. edit: You should probably have at least *some* way of settling arguments about who will be Councilor Primoris at the start of the game, even if it's just "oldest player" or something like that. edit 2: It takes ages to get to the "how you play the game" bit and then that's really rushed through. Have you playtested this game by just giving it and the rules to people who've never even seen it? Why are there no play examples of how the Councilor or Attack phases work? Are players hands open or closed (the consequence phase suggests Counsilor Primoris chooses which card other Counsilors discard in event of an attribute tie). Also am I reading it right that the 'real' winner is the person with the least points? That probably shouldn't be the very last thing in the rulebook. We also have Clove and Scobble, who both did art for Inverse World, and a fellow going by the name Levi who made the monster silhouette halfway down the kickstarter page. We're going to try recruiting more artists as well, depending on how many stretch goals we hit along the way and how much art we end up needing at the end of the day.
