Speaking of looking for more music like specific bands, is there anyone else who sounds remotely like Anata? I've been listening to The Conductor's Departure again after forgetting about it for a few years, and I need more. They don't seem to fit with any other melodic/technical death metal band.

Hieronymus Bosch is not particularly far off the mark, though they're a bit more melodic:

I love bands who commit themselves to a nerdy concept like this - they even wrote a book to go along with the album concept!

This reminds me of something I came across a while ago:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qK5CnJpxwqg

They also have a bunch of background fluff on their website. http://www.coventhrall.com/

I actually really like the art style, even if their text is a little goofy to say the least. And the song ain't half bad!
Their last Facebook updates are from a year ago though, so might be their project is dead in the water. Shame, I find there's a sort of naive charm to it, dodgy English and all.

Or using V in place of U in Latin words. I know maybe technically it's historically accurate, but it looks douchey as hell.

They have a really cool dose of classical influence and a unique melodic flair, I like them too. I'm racking my brains trying to think up something really similar, though. Maybe Cromm Cruac, Martyr, or Gory Blister? Some of the stuff on Spawn of Possession's latest album reminds me of them too, specifically Apparition.

Oh man, is Gory Blister still around? I really dug Art Bleeds. Actually everything that was on the now (presumably defunct) Sekhmet records was pretty good.
