In addition to playable Holograms, the game really needs an Abraham Lincoln costume option so I can play as space Lincoln. And have a ship that is just Abe Lincoln sitting on his Lincoln throne flying through space.

So I played Borg Disconnected on Advanced and.. hahaha. Spheres have 980k hp, Vila Bioships 1.2mil and the Borg Diamond has 6.1mil. It's an epic clusterfuck of a stf, the bastard child of Hive and Azure Nebula Rescue. The mission is entirely timer based and you are "racing" to collect points. Four distinct phases: 0) Get greeted by a liberated Sphere with 7 of 9 on board. 1) You arrive in the mega-Unimatrix near several glowing bits. As we all know, glowy bits are important. From all over the map, liberated Borg probes enter and are compelled to camp on the green bits, being reassimilated. Click on them to stop them from doing so and shoot the Borg that try to stop you. If you fail to do so, of course the newly assimilated probes attack you too. 2) Species 8472 arrives! Do as you did in #1 (free liberated Borgs, kill assimilated Borgs), but also shoot Bioships and close rifts! 3) A loving Voth Cityship arrives! Do as you did in #2 (free liberated Borgs, kill assimilated Borgs, kill bioships, close rifts), but also shoot Voth ships and destroy those Voth-killing torpedos (also you can only destroy them by ramming them). Thankfully, they are both slow, big, red, and also have an additional marker so you know exactly what stuff is resistant to antimatter and assorted energy weapons but gets stopped by good old steel and machismo. 4) Dreadnought showdown! A Borg Diamond, Voth Dreadnought and 8472 Dreadnought duke it out! Kill them all! And what do you get for that? ..9 Delta Marks. gently caress. In summary: ß

I read somewhere (maybe a tooltip, or the sto wiki), a long time ago (and this could be completely inaccurate or no longer true today), but it was my impression that most of the "mark infinity" items scaled to Mk X and stopped. I think I remember reading this in regards to some lobi items, and I'm not sure if all mark "infinity" items are created equal so maybe Spirals still scale.

I read a dev post on the forums and their explanation for the massive HP is that players have been bypassing a lot of enemy abilities simply by killing them super fast with AoE attacks; their idea is that by forcing players to concentrate their fire on individual threatening enemies instead, enemy abilities will be able to come more into play than they do now.

It's one thing to have high-HP enemies and all, but the whole point of stuff like Probes is that they come in large numbers and die relatively quickly. Also, the best way to show off your grindy new enemy scaling isn't really in a mission with time limits when everyone's ten levels and two gear tiers below the expected. Oh yeah, some Reddit comments from CaptJamJamz (Cryptic's ship designer) on the T6 designs. quote:You will be able to use faction-appropriate (veteran included) matierials on Intel ships. The Intel material (which is nearly identical, other than color between the factions) is just the default. quote:There will be an option to fill in the saucer [of the Scryer] (though it's not a force field, instead simply more plating). quote:The Intelligence ships (all 5 of them) actually have a fairly matte hull material. Lighting information is diffused widely across the surface, rather than focused. Similalrly, high levels of reflectivity is reserved for things like various glowy bits, as well as glass-like overlays on top of visible sensor arrays. That's a direct result of many ships not being able to slot as much as they'd want, so they go with AOE because you'll need that more and is in technically limited supply, and damage because killing faster always works. When you think about it, a lot of officer slots are basically 'locked in' to certain things. Tactical ideally must have Tactical Team and a AOE blast. Then attack patterns if there's room. Engineering wants 2-4 Power to Xs to keep that buff rolling, maybe an Engineering Team. Science it's Hazard Emitters, and a shield heal. That's 6-8 minimum, with an even split. Most ships have 12 slots, and the split up between the three officer types usually means most of them are filled with little room for single-target frippery.

There's also the simple matter that if you have two or more targets, AoE is always going to be faster and more efficient anyway. The only time it hasn't been is when they've thrown on abilities that punish damaging the "wrong" target, like the Voth reflective shields, and all that usually accomplishes is gibbing the pubbies who don't pay attention.

I must guiltily admit that I kind of like the look of the Phantom Intel Escort, even though I, too, can see how it basically looks like a Defiant/Bugship hybrid... though my first impression of it was that it seemed like they were trying to make "The Defiant, but more awesome" and... did not really succeed. Really, the Eclipse looks a bit Voyager-y/Enterprise E-y, too, and the Guardian, now that we see what it looks like, brings to mind the Enterprise-D... and maybe the Scryer looks a little like the NX-01 Enterprise... but in each case, it still seems like they were misguidedly trying to evoke the idea of these ships being "better" versions of the TV ships (but without having as good people doing the design work as any of the TV series had).
