The whole production came to a halt for a month a little while ago because the artist's PC died.

Did they bother to pack the scripts and "art" "assets" in RPA files this time? I remember hearing with the Desura demo they didn't bother to pack or encrypt anything and you could just read through the entire existing game via the RPY scripts.

I know that, the gaming market being what it is, I can't honestly recommend getting Full Bore at the full $15 price point, but if you like puzzle platforming games then do please consider wishlisting it for the next big sale or something. I honestly feel bad that I got it in the bundle, since I had already heard of and had my eye on it, and it's a really exceptional game and easily worth at least $5-7. I'll probably buy some copies to gift the next time there's a less ludicrous price drop.

They really had no reason to expect the humble bundle to bring in a lot of money. It was only on sale for 24 hours, and as far as I can tell I never got an email from the humble bundle people like I do for literally every single big bundle, weekly bundle and android bundle ad infinitum. Probably most of the people that buy humble bundles never even saw the sale, just the weirdos that check it constantly or read game forum steam threads.

Does it really matter if it's encrypted or not? I mean, that's on the user if they want to use a secondary program to read the files.

I don't know about the demo but yes, just like every other build of the game I've had access to, the assets are raw .rpy (so, text files), .pngs for all the graphics, and .mp3s. I've done some simple mods to really egregious poo poo in the build just to make it more fun to play. One exceedingly awful song has been replaced with a disco cover of the Star Trek theme. Made the big pop idol scene a lot more fun. Another character is probably going to be turned into George Costanza just because their art is so atrocious.

Fun fact: for the first two I saw they just had a file in the game install labeled "Desura Tier 3 keys" with a lot of backer names/emails kicking around in there. A lot of people with "chocobo" email names paid a lot of money for this game!

I'm quite pleasantly surprised with how much I'm enjoying Far Cry 3 so far, though just like the Assassin's Creed games it's just a bit too packed with various different items to collect. You need to strike a fine balance with these things and I always feel like Ubisoft's games seem to just go a bit too overboard in that regard.

Sneaking around an enemy stronghold and taking them out one by one without being spotted was pretty drat satisfying too. The dogs knew where I was but they didn't let them out of the cage... they're my dogs now :smug:

I still say Far Cry 3 blows in comparison to Far Cry 2. That did a much better job of making the point Far Cry 3 wants to make without forcing it down your throat. There's a heightened realism mod which I highly recommend... makes taking out outposts incredibly dangerous if you don't go prepared.

I know it's hardly a unique complaint, but Farcry 2's forever respawning checkpoints and enemies who instantly HATED YOU FOREVER and chased you down across half the map when you were just trying to get from point a to b made playing the game an exercise in frustration.

Which is a drat shame because it looked great, and driving roughly through the jungle holding a map in one hand was a blast.

You need to subscribe individually to each bundle type (main, books, mobile, weekly etc.) in order to get an email. Maybe that's why you didn't see it.

The respawning outposts are hardcoded in the engine, but Dylan's mod makes the enemies not chase you for anywhere near as long in an effort to make them more bearable.

I finally gave Mirrors Edge a real chance yesterday after owning it for several years. I'm a little bit past the half way point and the games pretty fun! It took me about an hour to warm up to it and it still occasionally pisses me off with grabbing ledges and pipes not working as well as it should, but aside from that it's neat. So far there doesn't seem to be much variety in the levels, it's been jumping around on roof tops and then running through building interiors. The only gripe I really have is some times it's not clear where I should be going and when I press the objective button Faith turns in that direction instead of the game just making her head turn. It's caused me to stumble off roof tops or smack into a wall and lose momentum several times.

Overall I'm enjoying the game and am curious to see how the story pans out.

Honestly I had way more fun in FC2, especially if I just picked up a random mook's busted rear end weapon and used it and laughed super hard if it exploded in my hands or I got my rampage turned around and I had to scramble for cover trying to clear a jam or my malaria kicked in.

Why does a genre need a point that everything must adhere to? That sounds really boring and lovely. I have started reading Umineko recently and it's actually kind of rad even though there are no choices. It's as good as many actual mystery novels but with art and (surprisingly good) music. If someone wants to make something like this, I see nothing wrong with that.

Planetarian is probably not going to be as good, but I have no problem with its format.
Yeah, when I'll have a huge urge to read something worse than actual Young Adult books like Twilight and Eragon with no interactivity and badly colored manga art I'll give these games a try.

The guy behind the game said he put the price at five bucks so more people would be able to play it, so it doesn't sound like he's especially concerned about profit. The Desolate Hope was in an Indie Gala bundle shortly after release too. Hell, you could get the game on Desura for 2.50 during its release.

Almost all of his games have been freeware. Even The Desolate Hope was for a while, but later versions went commercial. The guy seems to just love making games, and doesn't particularly care about profits or even marketing.
