http://youtu.be/kAoy6R0Wnts I've never heard of that band before, but HOLY BLEEDING poo poo GUYS IT'S DANIEL HEIMAN. Music doesn't sound too interesting judging by those snippets, though.

No kidding. It's even worse when you consider what he's been doing in the meanwhile. It's kinda funny though, all the comments for that video are just varying degrees of "Daniel what are you doing, please stop and go back to Lost Horizon". Dude's probably sick to death of hearing that by now.

I really do not like Darkthrone's black metal, or newer crust metal all that much. Am I nuts for thinking they were better at death metal? I still get a kick out of Soulside Journey... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTY6wBTIRyQ Although The Cult is Alive is still loving great too, so I can't be a total lunatic.

While it is a landmark album, Soulside Journey was more of a mockingly reaction to the wealth of death metal being produced in the west. Fenriz has even stated himself that, "The Cult is Alive is probably our best album". With that said, I'd be content with a whole slew of albums as versatile as The Underground Resistance.

The reason for Darkthrone doing anything is "we're Darkthrone and gently caress you if you don't like it". poo poo, they did an "in the studio with Darkthrone" video that was just Nocturno loving around drunk in his kitchen and pretending the microwave was an amp. They're good at what they do and it's pretty obvious that at this point they're just doing whatever the gently caress they want, but they keep putting out really loving good music. It's a good thing they didn't disappear up their own asses like Ihsahn.

New Exodus song. Zetro back on vocals and Kirk Hammett gets the first solo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMs9yNlBp4c&t=274s Sounds like a song that could've been on Tempo Of The Damned. Pretty decent, albiet fairly typical. I preferred Robs vocals to be honest.

Not like "sacrifice a virgin on a flaming pentagram drawn in blood" rituals, but closer to "stab the athame into the chalice and dance naked in the woods" rituals. I haven't been huge into metal since I was twelve, but I'm looking for stuff with the feeling of Sabbath, Rainbow, or prison-era Burzum (even though it's not really metal). Zeppelin also counts, although that's less metal than Burzum. A lot of the suggestions made so far have been good, but you should give these a look as well: Gun - Gun http://youtu.be/q5hP0G-7zaM Buffalo - Volcanic Rock http://youtu.be/n31npocv18o Pentagram - Day of Reckoning http://youtu.be/Rgh51n6THso Sigh - Imaginary Soniscape http://youtu.be/IIJ56d-8yPs Wo Fat - The Conjuring http://youtu.be/0yCzN7pPQHE

It's goofy as gently caress, but the new Alestorm album is pretty damned fun. Lots of catchy songs. It may be pirate metal, but they do it as good as anyone could really. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZW-mXKdWmE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rvnKsjnpTU They are playing up the road from me in a few weeks, I reckon i'm going to go. I love it how they have absolutely zero illusions about what kind of band they are. They just fully embrace their goofiness and don't give a gently caress. No other band honestly makes me laugh like Alestorm do. (Well, except maybe Edguy.) And yet they don't goof off at the expense of songwriting. I really wish I could see them live, though I'd most likely lose my voice from singing along to all those stupid catchy choruses.

I honestly have no idea where to talk about Slipknot. It's Nu-Metal, it has metal in the title whatever. They introduced the new bass player and drummer in the newest video, the new single sounds like a Stone Sour B-Side though, not a Slipknot song. A new Killswitch Engage album came out too. Everything I loved when I was 15 sounds like garbage now.

It's a little slower but it works perfectly for that song.
