Literally every pot splitting spectacle has involved Chris G, and he's never once actually suffered any real consequences over it. When you can get away with that poo poo 5 or 6 times, it's clear that there's no reason to give a gently caress about repercussions.

IPlayWinner is streaming a tournament called Hackerfight - it's a team tournament where the teams come from tech companies in the bay area. Mike Ross and Combofiend are there, and a friend of mine is on a team with Crackfiend. Who knew that you can be FGC and also hold down a job! http://www.twitch.tv/iplaywinner

VigilantePrime posted:Better than EG? EG's not necessarily the be-all and end-all of FGC teams, and even if that were the case, that's definitely no reason to let your work ethic deteriorate (this IS a job for them, right?). The FGC might have amnesia for these things, but companies probably won't think being associated with recent collusion/pot splitting looks good on your "FG resume". If anything, Justin's one of the few people in the US that actually *should* treat this more like a job. Plus, you never know what other companies or teams may be planning behind the scenes, I can attest that there's always people looking to recruit free agents. If there's a time Justin's contract is up with EG and another team one-ups what they're currently offering him before he renews, it's more likely to happen with a good track record. vv Parallax Scroll posted:There was a blowup involving a Justin/Wolfkrone pot split a while back, but that was after the fact, not when the match was on stream. But yeah, ChrisG has been involved in a lot. This one was pretty hilarious, because Justin flat out said in a video that he approached Wolfkrone about pot-splitting (because he wanted to be nice after sending him to losers) and most people didn't even think the pot-splitting part was dubious, it's Wolfkrone backing out of it once he won (which is also dumb and dishonest, but still..)! apple fucked around with this message at 06:09 on Sep 13, 2014 |

I feel little bad laughing at the extremely low level of play at TGU. I went on a 25 win streak in a packed Bangkok arcade last time I was there and im scrub tier. On the plus side they are really enthusiastic and its fun to see an emerging FGC. Its pretty much a guaranteed all foreign top 8 as long as there are 8+ foreign players.

He really sounds like a kid who was just told Santa isn't real; he's so crushed. Probably why he's one of my favorite commentators. What is the BlackEye sponsor for nemo? Is it a Japanese brand or a team like EG? If so, who are their major sponsors?
|
# ? Sep 15, 2014 15:03 |
|
The Black Eye is an apartment in Tokyo owned by one of the members of Final Round Japan, and is basically the place to play Marvel 3 in Japan. Final Round Japan is, obviously, a group in Japan founded by an American (Scott Popular) from Atlanta, where Final Round is held. Pretty sure they don't have any major sponsors but they might get some support from Madcatz since Markman likes to have his hands everywhere helping people out.

# ? Sep 15, 2014 16:29 |

The Black Eye is a team started by Matt "Forgenjuro" Date, a Japanese American player who hosts MvC3 sessions at his apartment in Meguro, Tokyo (Meguro is written with the kanji for 'eye' and 'black'). The team is mostly made up of players who show up regularly like Nemo and Dora, plus some other donks like Kane BlueRiver. I don't know the exact details but they have deals with Red Bull and Razer. Some other companies might also be involved. A little bit unrelated but lately some companies have been trying to push eSports in Japan and Forgenjuro is also heavily involved in that. Here he is talking about competitive gaming on a morning talk show: He also co-hosts a separate TV show about competitive games. See how much you can accomplish when you don't look/act like trash or have idiots like Triforce holding back your entire scene?
