A reminder, from April: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/biggest-loser-creator-bring-new-696160 quote:"It just won't be a bunch of wrestling matches; we have exciting announcements to come. TNA or WWE right now is match after match after match. Global Force Wrestling is not going to do that. There will be matches but there will be a lot more and a lot more variety placed into the actual events that will be really innovative and fresh," So we've gone from "less wrestling, more innovative & fresh angles, 52 weeks a year" to "US distribution rights for New Japan PPVs"

New Japan PPVs are much, much better than I could have hoped for (from a 'wow this will be unironically a good product to watch' perspective, that is. From a negative perspective there was no limit to how low I thought they could go).

Neither TNA nor WWE are "Match after match after match" and I'm not sure if that's for the better or worst anymore.

Flameingblack posted:I just thought it was ironic that GFW were trying to offer the "Alternative" to WWE and TNA which was exactly the same, until they accidentally stumbled upon NJPW and they're actually a legitimate alternative now. They'll quickly be better than TNA. As long as Jado and Gedo keep booking and NJPW keeps putting on great matches, maybe they'll grow enough to become a competitor. No #2 in the world's pretty drat good and they have room for growth in their domestic market. There really is a limit to how popular they can get in the US though but I think they can at least do enough buys (ROH type numbers) to make it worthwhile for everyone involved.

I just hope this means ROH and NJPW will still cross promote.

Tokyo Dome is currently planned to air live from Japan with an 8 PM Eastern replay, and GFW being the US PPV distributor for all New Japan PPVs is being discussed between the two and TV-Asahi (whom New Japan are in the final stages of negotiations with). Jeff Jarrett Promoter of The Year 2015

If this actually happens and GFW just becomes Japanese wrestling PPVs with English commentary, I'm going to take the money I was spending on the WWE Network and put it towards this. I can't believe I'm excited for something Jeff loving Jarrett is involved with.

Yeah, NJPW with good English commentary that covers both the in-ring action and the feuds going on, and maybe subtitles for in-ring promos, sounds 100% awesome. NJPW has always put on good-to-great matches, all it's really missing for me is knowing what the hell is going on without having someone on psp.tv there to explain things.

Let's look at it from the other perspective. New Japan Pro Wrestling, a company that is extremely risk averse in foreign markets has found a guy to assume all the risks in broadcasting their first live PPV in the US. This is a miniscule part of their overall business for the show and probably the only thing this guy is remotely good at. New Japan has nothing to lose in this situation, but somehow Jeff Jarrett is the guy who pulled some amazing move?

From a new interview with John Morrison: http://www.pwinsider.com/article/89050/john-morrsion-talks-about-working-with-eric-bischoff-joey-mercurys-new-career-and-more.html?p=1 quote:On TNA and Global Force Wrestling: I’m booked to wrestle Jeff Jarrett on December 6th, might talk a little talk about Global Force. TNA & I have had talks, I live in LA, Florida is far. Wrestling is a business, the more promotions the better, more opportunities for wrestlers to work. Both of those companies could be fun to work with. Right now I’m signed with Lucha Underground and I’m happy with where I’m at. Backstage is great, no drama, great shows, great people involved, and in my hometown of Los Angeles. So the first US taping is 12/6 in Florida? I wonder if Universal Studios has Joined The Force

He's saying he's wrestling Jeff Jarrett (somewhere, presumably an indy) on Dec 6 and will probably talk about GFW at that event.
