They'll find a buyer, but that's not your problem. Just keep looking. Good time of year to buy a Miata.

Yeah dude you gotta stop with these basket cases, just be patient and one will turn up eventually, have cash ready to go when the right one comes along. Also consider traveling out of state, one way tickets are cheap.

Seems to be fairly reasonable even for 5.5k if the soft top is in good condition.

Well I'm glad I didn't bother looking at the one with the overheating issue, looks like it's dead now: http://shreveport.craigslist.org/cto/4707539171.html Also that missing panel wasn't visible in the old ad. (old: http://shreveport.craigslist.org/cto/4689866114.html)

Local old guy offered me a 2000 miata ls with 130k miles for 3200. Looks good mechanically, but has a pretty gnarly dent behind the drivers door. I'm guessing if I can get it under 3k it will still be a good deal right?

I'd probably do it. Beater Miatas are the best Miatas.

Did somebody say beater Miata? I think I may have just bought one on auction... Assuming it all goes through that is but it's a '91 JDM, 90k miles, black with kinda messed up but very swanky tan interior. Completely stock down to the exhaust and rims. No incredibly visible exterior damage. $800 equivalent. Sounds pretty good but then I remember it's over 1000km from my house... I just have to keep telling myself it'll be an amazing road trip. Was looking at a couple not too seriously locally. Ideally I'd like an NB with a hard top but those are priced pretty outrageously usually. Also it's hard to find anything without a shitload of rust here (Detroit). http://detroit.craigslist.org/mcb/cto/4704169105.html Pretty nice but I wish it was a 1.8 and didn't have the lovely coilovers and wheels. http://annarbor.craigslist.org/cto/4654890024.html Where do I start...

Eh I got an unmolested factory original '93 with a decent respray, 140k and one owner for $3500. And it wasn't even that good of a deal. Keep looking edit: now to do something about these heavy-rear end steelies. Anyone have the m-edition wheels they wanna part with? I guess I could get Konig rewinds... edit 2: how hard is it to buff out curb rash on these guys & are they a decent deal otherwise? http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/4707170643.html A MIRACLE fucked around with this message at 16:49 on Oct 10, 2014 |

They looked at me like I just admitted to enjoying child pornography. To people these days "Reliable" means "Will work forever with no maintenance what so ever. I wouldn't say I'm a "go to guy" for Miatas, I've just bought and sold so many cars in general that I eventually got good at it I guess. Miatas are pretty easy to gauge buying used but I've even hosed that up before when I failed to notice the loving destroyed rockers on my last Miata. Welcome back btw, jerk. Sometimes I list my miata on craigslist just to see how many people try to use edmunds pricing to get me to sell it to them for half price. I always tell them that I will buy every miata they bring me at that price plus $200 finder fee. I have yet to pay a fee. Also Rockauto doesn't have the cheap Robbins tops now that I went to try to order one they have some weird brand now. I am as sad as the guys trying to buy miatas at edmunds prices.

Honestly I don't think Robbins tops are that great, the fitment on them has a lot to be desired. I'm still trying to get ripples out of mine and it doesn't fit well over the B pillar like the factory top did. If it wasn't for wanting a zipper window I would have found a later NB top to swap over. [edit] Just figured out my car got hit AGAIN at work but didn't notice until this afternoon when I saw it in the light. My Miata is invisible apparently.
