I think it's pretty interesting that it feels like most grapple goons land from out north, out west, and Florida. (Me from Kansas and Australia goons not withstanding) I also dig that it seems that finding a good coach isn't too hard of a thing to do in a big city. Then again I guess the people training in Big John White Dragon's Take Kwon Do/Krav Maga/Ninjitsu/MMA/BJJ don't post much. I started MMA in a kinda crazy gym affiliated with Lloyd Irving. He's the impotent rapist, right? Now my Kansas school is associated with Nova Unaio. Seems like half the Brazilian gyms have that association somewhere.

Also any good mouthpiece recommendations? I think the double I have for sparring is a bit much and it's hard to breath from. After my mouth got busted open on my lower teeth I feel like a mouthguard would be prudent.

Other than that it's been really good.

Try watching a submission only tournament, less holding. Metamoris and EBI are both awesome. I'm sure you can find the metamoris events by now and Eddie's thing is free on his YouTube page.

Almost every bjj tournament I watch includes me dicking around on a 2nd device when it hits slow moments. Just kinda the nature of the sport. I think the only events I've been able to maintain total focus are metamoris because of the sub only and single fight ruleset encouraging going after it for the full 20.

No, that match is from last week. They've fought before though. Garcia did fail a drug test in 2013 but I think they decided it was due to fertility drugs or something so she didn't get a competition ban, but was still stripped of her medal.

As I've said before, Gabi is pretty obviously on PEDs but she'd have a ridiculous physical advantage even without them. Steroids didn't make her 6'5".

I'd like to see Gabi work here way up through the men's weight classes at panams or ADCC. Start with the smallest weight class and then work her way up until she starts losing more frequently. Then she can just compete there for the rest of her career. I wanna see her against Marcelo.

I know that's Marcelo's style, but I thought I saw a couple spots where if he'd pushed just a little bit he would have taken her back or mounted her. Of course, I'm not Marcelo Garcia so I'm not going to pretend that my analysis is anything greater than amateur speculation.
