So how much did the update break things? I don't mean a bullet point list but in general, a lot? A little? I saw the bit about Boffs. I guess it's time to make the call if I want to buy the big get everything pack, or finally call it quits on this game, most of the things I've heard about the expansion are leaving a bad taste. Looking here and at reddit there is a big lack of people "gee whizzing!" at the new poo poo and that's making me really wonder if it's time to get out.
It didn't really break things, but it does mean that new players basically have no chance of catching up without spending a ton of money. If you've been playing end-game for awhile and have a fairly well put together char you'll be fine. If you're a new level 50 still rocking the free 40 ship, you're kind of screwed.

Well, the free 40 ships were usable for end-game content before. Not great at all, but certainly usable. But all the new enemies in the level 50+ missions are massive HP sponges, and I'm not sure the level 40 ships can really work there. Since the only free end-game ships are holiday ones, you basically get to buy a ship or wait until Christmas.

Get someone to run a parse while they're grouped with you? ISE used to be the standard for doing that, but who knows what'll happen now that they've 'upgraded' it.

So how did they 'upgrade' the pve stuff? It sorta seems like they upped the difficulty and necessary gear level and dumped the rewards. This is based on what other people have said though, I have yet to try it.

There are now 3 tiers for STFs. Normal stayed the same. Advanced is now the old Elite, with the formerly optional tasks no longer optional, with new optionals thrown in on top. Elite is the top level, L60 characters only, and the now doubled up optionals are again not optional, plus all the enemies are super juiced on steroids, crack and meth, with the newest STFs having some annoying timing/mechanics stuff thrown in on top. Oh yeah, Hive Elite ? Better hope that not everyone is dead at the same time because that's an immediate auto-fail now. At least now the game is nice enough to let you know exactly how many multiple thousands of damage points the dongship lances one-shot you with.

Yeah the Breen ships are both really good and they'll be back in two months. Also fleet ships are still perfectly viable and 700 zen isn't ungrindable even for a new player. As always space-poors should roll some klanks and farm some contra.

Yeah, all the event ships do. If there's a new one this year it'll be either T6 or T5u too, most likely.

Swipe credit card. You need the ship upgrade module for a low, low 700 zen! Or you can get a four-pack for amazing savings!

It's probably inevitable since that's the last major NPC Breen ship. I won't get my hopes up about non-poo poo stats considering the flight deck cruisers so far though. But it might be a carrier instead...

Apparently the tokens for it are purchasable off the exchange, but aren't in a specific category yet. And probably overpriced for a while until undercutting drives them down.

I would have been more upset if i had bought a Zen ship and then had to pay 700 to upgrade it without potential Intel Boffs rather than buying a t6 fresh.

Luckily there's plenty of Talaxian slaughter later. Which I guess is a spoiler, but gently caress it I have to spread the one good thing about the expansion. :v:

I admit I'm also less than thrilled about the leveling process, especially since there's some fairly big gaps along the way unless you repeat missions or do queues. Not that it's a bad idea to stock up on delta marks and all, but normal has absolutely lovely rewards and advanced is just painful tedium if you're trying to PUG. And the worst of it is the slow realization that it won't be any better when you're 60, since the advanced queues are still going to be 80% full of folks leveling for the forseeable future...

As a newish player, I didn't bother with Tribble before the release and holy crap are STF's more difficult. Even the basic fleet mark ones, which I could probably solo while watching netflix, now take concentration. An Advanced ISE? I don't think the pubs and I even got to the first charging thing (I forget the name).

Looking at parses I took today and ones I took before DR it looks like ISE had about 15M damage to do and ISA has about 65M. It's tedious but doable with a goon group but god drat it's just about impossible with pubbies.

I kinda hope they do dial the advanced STFs down a bit. It's not so much that it's too hard but goddamn it gets boring whittling away at spheres and cubes forever, all for no gear and half the dil. The enemy damage output must be way down because even the low DPS clowns weren't getting blown up, but even with the optionals cleared I had to fight the urge to quit in a fit of boredom. It doesn't say much for the game when I can go to the kitchen and grab a Coke and some pizza and come back to watch my toy spaceship still plinking away unexploded.

Cure was hilarious though, the BoPs had more hull than the Raptors, and nearly as much as the cubes. And they actively redirect their shield power to their forward shields (though they technically always did that, they just never had the shield hp to make it noticeable.)
