Between this and the Eve thread I am losing hope in humanity. Good thing Wtfmoses is here to restore it. Thanks Wtfmoses.

Also the original plan was to have another meeting on Friday the 31st to see where we were and to see if dodgy had passed lead yet. Everything hinged on us getting guild lead back because we couldn't do much as far restructuring and reorganizing without it. The next course of action was to either reform or continue if we got glead from dodgy. Shortly after the officers meeting we were going to have a state of the goonion. Obviously that didn't happen because the guild imploded Thursday night. This is why a bunch of us were so upset with Kimsemus and his goonfucking because he made zero attempt to help with any of this or even ask about it in the first place. He simply was not around and didn't make it to either of the oficer meetings nor did he listen to what we asked. The fishing thing was just a big gently caress you to the rest of the officers.

This is pathetic. All the goons that abandoned the guild are trying to blame it all on Kimsemus when all Kimsemus did was a run a raid that ruffled some feathers. Compare this to leaving the guild, stealing supplies from it, and telling goons to gently caress themselves when they ask to get it back. You guys got pissed off at one person and instead of handling the situation in a reasonable way, stormed out of the guild in a huff.

But I should blame this all on Kimsemus and not the people that ran away. Ridiculous.

Game is no good. If the explanations about how you get a castle and having 50k mining guys do poo poo while the pvp juggernauts defend them and you can't literally do any thing against the guy in higher tier gear have not convinced you. Then i guarantee the fact that higher tier gear requires something well beyond the parameters of sanity will. Well then.

I was playing D3 before this game launched. Fun yeah, but it still suffers from some glaring scaling and balance issues.

RNG is much more forgiving in D3, though, so that's a thing.

EDIT: Any MMO I pick up from now on, I have to play on a PvP server, though. Ganking is too much fun, I don't know how I survived being a PvE carebear all this time.

Don't get me wrong, there is a lot good about the game, and a terrible lot of bad. But I can imagine any guild leader with a bunch of people asking "where is my castle" quitting, when faced with the reality of pvp in this game.

That post with screenshot of that Unji guy and his off-siders reminded me why I quit mmos for 5 years. Everything since then in this thread is a final nail in my forehead. I now live to call a guild leader 'son' and gquit.

Piracy alone makes this game worth playing, we're having a blast tonight.

Tonight, we took a 14 man piracy raid out. One junk with 5 crew, one clipper with 7. We:

1. Intercepted a Wicked merchant ship off of Cinderstone's harbor. Only crewed by 2 people, it was a quick takeover (involving some weird instant-blender shenananigans, I wish had a screencap of it but apparently harpooning the ship instantly caused both ships to flip upside down, :cryengine:), but a combination of owner's mark and the person who hijacked it literally not knowing port from starboard cost us enough time so that even with us doing a run-and-gun destruction eastward into the sea, their response team of a hojillion angry ex-goons in clippers caught the slowpokes as we debussed the junk onto a clipper. We made out with 9 packs of 20, 5 goons valiantly sacrificing themselves to let us get out with something rather than nothing.

2. We then jacked another 2-crew merchant ship. This one shouldn't have ever happened, seeing as we had been stalking the guy along the northern shore of the Sound while he hugged safe water, only for him to barrel out of Crescent Throne towards Cinderstone straight into our fleet. What is radar. I dunno. We also vacuum up some random solo easterner on a clipper. Not sure where he was planning to go in the Sound, because it's ALL hostile to him.

3. Wicked then chases our jacked cargoship in with clippers that were escorting a second merchant ship of theirs (the same pilot as in 1, humorously; apparently he had learned a lesson about 2-man crews). More ex-goons show up in the harbor and we have a huge brawl for a good five minutes. We get the better of them in the first few minutes as they arrive piecemeal and we're already balled up, but then their Heal Team Six arrives and it turns into a decently balanced fight. Once we both realize that the Nui shrine literally 15 seconds away is doing nothing but rack up infamy on both sides, though, both sides mutually disengage and stare at each other. We chat a bit, and then we warp to Ynystere because it's about to enter peace.

4. We don't get any merchant ships, though, but instead a fishing ship plows itself right into our fleet seconds after we spawn our ships - I actually call the target right after we board. Only two fish in it, but as we scoop them up, a cutter suddenly starts bulling into us, and I start planning an exit strategy...

5. ... uh, it's the exact same people as in #2. Still two people. This time, on a cutter. Full of packs for some reason. Presumably they couldn't figure out how to repair their merchant ship but they had a cutter and really wanted to move packs. We swarm them and kill them. Unfortunately the boat despawns out from underneath us before we can sink it (far faster than the normal 10 minute despawn, I call shenanananigans but whatever), but we still get 4 packs out of it.

6. After turning in those two fish and four packs, we beat our swords into plowshares, porting to Two Crowns to help a guildmate get a heaping pile of gilda in order for him to buy a large house design by Auroria. I'm hoping that it'll get put somewhere cool.

So yeah, I had a great night doing poo poo with goons. This game is fun. Whenever the stupid loving west character creation block is lifted, you all should roll Elves and join Goon Squad to roll with me. I need more Shroudmasters on my boats.

Yeah tonight was great. Full Apex merchant boat right off the bat. Followed up by dunking Wicked Goons using their patented piecemeal attack strategy. Then we sunk a red fishing boat and an Apex Cutter near Ynystere. Good times.

Piracy sounds loving incredible and the game being free makes me tempted, but is stuff like that more like WoW where you can roll out and usually find something, or more like EVE and the smallest bit of fun requires hours of set-up, waiting, and luck?

When I was playing it was fairly easy to find people to pirate if you knew the common routes people were going and had someone with a ship radar. The way the trade price regenerates and how zones open to peace periodically you can make a mental log of the most popular routes during a specific time of day. For example when Sanddeep hits peace there are a lot of packs from Two Crowns. When Cinderstone hits peace there are a lot of packs from Solzreed, Dewstone, Halcyona, etc.

The main problem I have with pirating packs vs fish is it's sort of hard to distribute profits. For fish you can make a tally of how much gold was secured total and then divide the gold up evenly among the pirate party right then and there. For trade packs it's often very indirect income because the profits come in 22 hours later. Probably the fairest way to do group piracy is by having a "pack master" who brings a lot of gold to distribute to the raid members at the end of the raid but turns in all the packs personally. This person might take a cut because of providing the money up front or just do it for the commerce exp. Alternatively the easiest way is just to try and keep track of who has delivered a pack and some people will inevitably get shafted and not get any packs in.

If anyone tells you to join a pirate raid but wants packs funneled to a specific person go tell them to get bent.

Daggerspells are very effective at solo piracy particularly because you can use a spell that takes your opponent off the ship, preventing them from getting into protected territory or running away. The player is trapped in a bubble as the momentum of their ship carries it far forward of their position.

The tried and true melee alternative is a Darkrunner as they can lasso opponents off their boat.

I am going to give you guys a little PSA right now.

If you plan on being a stable, normal person in a leadership position, just do the opposite of anything that the previous officers did.

1) Let people know your plans. Speculation and the rumors it starts are worse than letting people know you are helping them in secret for "opsec".

2) Schedule meetings when people are on and provide notes for those not there. Halloween may seem like a good time for major decisions, but a couple of people may be unable to attend.

3) Don't take everything you don't agree with as subversion (or goonfucking), especially if you failed to obey point number 1.

Highest burst is probably Darkrunner, one of those killed me in two seconds flat and I'm wearing full plate with about 16k health. They might be problematic to play at sea though and if you manage to survive their initial burst they're manageable.

Darkrunners aren't too shabby at sea because you can just tigerstrike in the general direction of a boat to board it usually. If our alpha doesn't hurt you too bad we're dead, but if it hurts you pretty bad but doesn't kill you, you better have enough CC to keep us locked down or you'll probably go out. If an archer class starts in melee with us they probably won't get away.

The only thing to keep in mind about all melee classes in this game is the garbage netcode. If an archer has freerunning popped, already at range, and is kiting properly, it is actually impossible to hit them. The server won't let you use your abilities where they seem to be on your client, and the client won't let you use your abilities where they actually are on the server. So those two areas have to overlap somewhat to be able to use your abilities and for a kiting archer with freerunning cast, melee-range abilities generally don't. Tiger strike, stalker's mark, and to a lesser extent shadowstep are the only abilities you have that can reach a kiting archer, and tiger strike and shadowstep might deposit you in the wrong spot to follow up so it's kind of a crapshoot once they get into a position to kite.

If they start out in melee you need to lock them down immediately whenever they start to move out of range so you don't get in that situation. Once they're at range and kiting you're probably dead.

Unless you're 1v1ing them it's actually NBD just because the archers are going to be focusing on things like healers usually or, you know, the other darkrunner. They're going to be trying to support their teammates, so it's not hard to jump on them and gently caress them up.
