Speaking of New Yorkers and walls, here's JOHN DARLING!!!

When we last left John Darling, he was in New York City, up against a wall, being robbed at knifepoint. This continues today... but not tomorrow. I don't know if the syndicate told Batiuk & Armstrong that the Violent Crime arc was getting depressing or what, but from what I can tell, this particular arc was never revisited.

Or they just skipped those strips, which isn't uncommon in old paperbacks like this one. Check the dates on the next and see if they're sequential.

Pretty sure that Bobo and Brainguy are talking with Pearl Forester (I recognize that high ponytail and pearl earring set anywhere) and Inframan. And is that Mr. B Natural or Robin Hood? I'd like to imagine that it's Mr. B.

By now, I should be immune to this strip treating Doctor Who and loving George R. R. Martin as if they were incredibly obscure bits of geek culture. But gah. It's like having some teenager tell you all about how he just discovered Rush.

Also, Geek Girl has glasses, a turtleneck sweater, and a librarian bun. But of course.

Don't let that weird Wikipedia article fool you: The Lives of John Lennon is still heavily discredited. I'm not sure why Goldman felt he needed to make up stories of how bad-tempered and drug-addicted Lennon was when there were so many true ones, but he did. Goldman's follow-up was an Elvis bio where he claimed Elvis committed suicide. Everyone rolled their eyes at that.
