I think I'm OK with just listening to Harmontown. I watched the Chicago show and when Harmon started wandering around the audience I was really put off.

I was in the audience when this was going on and I was just cringing throughout. Like, is it always that bad? Is it just better not being able to see it?

I was, however, pleasantly surprised with Gout Guy. That felt like a pretty natural audience encounter, start to finish, and it reminds me why people getting up on stage is actually a good thing most of the time.

The organist was good. Dino was very annoying, though at least he wasn't as creepy as the last time he was on

Him dismissing so many people and being insulting to their faces. There was one point where he said someone was the worst with real disgust that made me want to say "gently caress you" to the screen.

Having now listened to the episode (I went to the show) it maybe sounds a little bad, but honestly it was totally deserved. Everybody in the loving theatre was jumping out of their seats shouting things like "MY MOM'S VIETNAMESE!" or "I'M A TRUCK DRIVER!" or "MY BROTHER'S DEAD!" and so on and so forth. It was a Wannabe Freak Show. It was one of the most off-putting and cringe-inducing experiences of my life, and saying that someone is the worst is a pretty mild reaction to all that.

I didn't hear it at the show but on the podcast heard a girl saying, "I'M FULL ASIAN!" and Dino going, "Sit down, you loving Nip!" THAT was when I felt like saying "gently caress you."

Also, I was really sad that most of the organ was too quiet to hear. It sounded great in the room and I could only catch a little of it on the podcast. Was it any better on the live stream?

It was equally inaudible for me when I watched. Also I can vaguely remember someone saying to Dan "My friend is canadian!" in an attempt to get on stage....yeah "you're the worst" is entirely warranted.

Yeah, this. I was embarrassed to hear adults yelling for a chance to talk with a rich manchild on stage. Wannabe Freak Show is pretty accurate way to describe it

I can't believe I've missed this podcast/Phenomena/Thing for so long. Been going through the entire catalogue for 2 weeks now, up to episode 58.
Harmoncountry was a fantastic experience, every episode felt like a feelgood indie flick, rounding everything off with the "What did we learn" song.

gently caress Adam Goldberg though, jesus christ, I can barely stand reading the posts of goons I don't need an autistic one in my ear. I get the impression that the people on stage are mellowing to him because he obviously pesters/stalks them in real life enough that they are familiar with him, but as a listener of the show he's still just a nobody from the audience who just storms the stage with a one man show of social disorder.

Yeah, Jeff being openly antagonistic is (was? he's also been pretty mellow lately) pretty hilarious. Especially as Adam is just going on, oblivious to peoples emotion or social cues. The crickets in the Meltdown get increasingly louder whenever he jumps on stage and now I can't unhear it.

Aw, is Jeff he gone in the later episodes? Still going through episode 59 as my most recent episode currently

e: Hah, they're talking about Scat porn and I feel that had I been there I probably would have pulled an Adam Goldberg and told them about our forums very own SWAP.AVI

Jeff has been out the last 10 episodes, much to the detriment of the show. With the possible exception of Mitch Hurwitz, no one comptrols as well as Jeff.

Like, there's one point in the Chicago show when you could hear the desperation in Dan's voice as he's trying to have a real moment with Normal Spencer, but Celebrity Spencer keeps interjecting with his awful shtick. Jeff might not have been able to save that segment, but I think he would have been quicker to recognize that it wasn't going anywhere and moved things along much sooner.

I've grown to like Adam. He's learned, and admitted in this very thread, that being up on stage is not something that should be sought out, and is actually more of a penance than a reward. Every tour destination only proves that point more and more.

The worst that came to mind wasn't on this tour. I think it may have been during the harmontown tour where a woman and her friend got on stage and her friend was claiming this lady saved community because twitter or something and wouldn't let up. It was real weird.

Hey Ma, who's that band I like? Oh yeah, Hall & Oates.
I'm playing the catch up game as well. I'm somewhere in the twenties. The last four episodes have been 45 minutes of rapping, ten minutes of Dan and Jeff, and the rest Goldberg.

In the episode I'm listening to now, Dan is apologizing for bullying Adam Goldberg after Big Red showed up in the last episode.

Adam is really, really terrible. Does he ever go away? Or do I have 80 more episodes of his garbage ahead?

CPColin

Big ol' smile.
If anything, he gets more exposure later on, culminating in a series of four episodes where he not only comptrolls, but also replaces Spencer and the rest of the player-characters in D&D. So watch out for that.
