I do too, that's why I love the artists I mentioned. Mark has a really distinct art style that is beyond detailed, and usually involved concepts that would be generic on its face, but he is able to give it life that really makes it pop. The only thing that sucks is that he's a part of a few bands (Grave Wax, Macabra, Fetid Zombie) and they are just not very good for the most part. :/

comes along bort posted:Haha apparently that chubby gently caress Eddie Trunk was responsible for Turbin getting fired from the band. How does such a massive pud have any influence on anyone? I guess it depends on who you listen to. quote:"Even though I have no regrets about doing Fistful Of Metal or the first tour, there was nothing pleasant in any aspect about it. Scott [Ian, rhythm guitarist] had aspirations of wanting to be the central figure in the band, being the front man, and the guy is not even a lead guitar player. And there weren’t lots of song ideas coming from him. This was my agenda: I was there to rock. I came there to kick some rear end and thrash. Scott admitted to the rest of the band that [bassist] Dan Lilker had to be let go, but it was a lot easier for him to use me as a scapegoat, especially after I wasn’t there anymore. Everybody knew that Dan just wasn’t cutting it on a number of levels. He took thirty takes to play the Alice Cooper cover "I'm Eighteen" in the studio. But there was this great resentment because I was getting a lot of attention, so I was completely undermined. I was foolish because I decided to weather the storm. But the momentum that was created, the excitement level was definitely something that I contributed to, and that can never be taken away from me."

Dad rock is supposed to be poo poo like Skynyrd, Vanilla Fudge, Nazareth and other old school hard rock poo poo like that. I know I'm late to the party, but the new Beyond Creation album is an excellent followup to their first. I think Abstrait Dialog has to be my favorite track off the album. The second track is also amazing, but I can't remember the title off the top of my head because it's French.

Reminds me of Motley Crue - Girls Girls Girls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2XdmyBtCRQ Anthrax & Metallica are pretty similar bands, comparatively speaking. They toured together in their heyday. I had a roommate in college who was way into that sort of thing. He had a band & they toured & had a company called Whiskki Music & everything. Nowadays he is part of another band that does a good show. I guess I don't really know what counts as trolling in No Music Discussion but apparently everything? Anyways, Metallica Black Album is seriously great & the band Metallica is successful, even if they did sell out after the 80's and just sat on their piles of money thereafter. James Hetfield went from being the guy in that clip down there to a hefty asexual Birkenstocks-wearing middle-aged married man in Top Gun aviators. NWN are really most interesting for the stuff they release by bands that aren't signed to them, lots of cool reissues of old good stuff. Like they're doing a complete Order From Chaos LP set for example. the annual fest they put on usually has a very cool line up too. Music from 20-30 years ago will always be "dad rock" no matter what year it is. In the case of metal, that era's metal is tame in comparison to today's metal, so distilling it by calling it "rock", although it's actually metal, is also an underhanded insult to guys like you and A3th3r who keep rambling on and on about great the glory days of metal were. I say this as a dad in his 30's.
