Top Hats Monthly posted:So, could someone help me here enjoy Minnesota United? I'm trying to get into it but I feel saturated with all the sports I know already. People at work today were kicking around the idea of being part of the MLS, and I'm not really sure what to think about anything! Also, a love punching myself in the dick, how good is Minnesota? They've got the best record in the league which is tough info to find. You'll be a perfect fan for that team.

The Loons are pretty bad, they only managed a one win all season against the Rowdie Soccer Men from the Tampa Bay Area.

I've met a few of their supporters who came down to Tampa and they're all really nice. You'll have a good time if you go to a game.

Minnesota had that game wrapped up for 92 minutes but then an obviously offside Strikers goal was allowed. Extra time and Ft. Lauderdale wins the penalty shootout. NASL!

at least three strikers were massively offside. e. also the strikers' manager got ejected in the second half after bitching about an offside call. then he wouldn't leave through the tunnel to the dressing room and I guess just left the stadium some other way awyeahz fucked around with this message at 04:50 on Nov 9, 2014 |

awyeahz posted:at least three strikers were massively offside. Also, both goals last night were ridiculous. The first one (Minnesota) happened after a Strikers forward took an inadvertent elbow to the head the lay on the ground motionless, and somehow neither the ref nor the linesmen saw it and let Minnesota play it on all the way down to the other end. The second one (Fort Lauderdale) featured three offside players, and a full minute after the offside call the ref decided to overrule the linesman and say that Venegas deflected the ball on the way in, which negated the offside. Manny Lagos has been named Manager of the Year. I suppose it's normal to just give it to the manager for the best regular season team, but the guy who runs Fort Lauderdale has probably did a more impressive job.

I know the league has only been around for a few years, but what is team turnover like? I have no idea what contracts are like or how many players to expect back for Indy Eleven next year.

Farrukh Quraishi has a very long history with the Rowdies and Tampa Bay soccer; should be good and a sign that Edwards is beefing up the size of the front office. No more shoe-string budgets and relying on unpayed interns to get all the work done. They've torn out the old plastic seats and pressure washed the concrete terraces. Removed the various baseball related poles, scoreboards, batter's eye, etc. Should be able to get the touchlines a lot closer to the fans for next season.

We're also getting a video board finally so we don't have to rely on that awful baseball scoreboard. Lee Cohen was promoted as well, which is a great sign. Things are really looking up in Tampa!
