I mean, Machine Head are doing the same sort of thing they've been doing since '94 with Burn My Eyes. Nothing really new. While The Blackening may very well be the cream of their offering, the new album isn't THAT far from the path of what they've been doing for years. It's not as abysmal as Supercharger either. Personally, I can hear more similarities to their older material on this new album.

BoB is not the best quality vinyl. And I'd have to ask why on earth you'd get a reissue of an album that was produced in such volume that you can almost certainly get (good condition) vinyl from the 80s for half the price?

Going back a bit to women-fronted bands, saw this on Metal Sucks (this is the link I found there, I did not seek out the "audiophile version" thank you very much). http://ennoeadoom.bandcamp.com/album/proarkhe-audiophile-version Pretty cool stuff. This is another one-woman band like Myrkur, though it's a ways off from that project in terms of Myrkur's atmospheric black metal, versus Ennoea's doom. This is by the same woman that's in Fight the Demiurge and a bunch of other stuff.

Weaponized Cum posted:gently caress Nightwish really bad vocals, like it hurt my ears it was so bad. That band could use some sort of work where they 'de-crappy-fy' songs (maybe just toss them? I dunno). The band should go to shows of other metal/rock bands with a notepad & take notes. Sort of like the music equivalent of they should lurk more. Hideous. I would start with the Stones, then the Beatles, then Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera, Anthrax etc, going from there. Here is some real metal.. This is maybe the darkest track I have ever heard of, by any musician (no, sludge metal does not count because it is just unintelligible noise with no coherent structure) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ryta9gPHQ0Q Whispered - Dead Cold Inside This is maybe the best Nightwish song, in my opinion https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5bD76PRx3U The early stuff was just too operatic for me. e: Here is some stuff that will make yours ears bleed (this is a metal thread, right?) e2: I mean, metal should be hardcore but still be something that is coherent, has actual structure, & is meaningful, not just heavy to be heavy, if that makes any sense.
