I know he had family connections, but how did he get so much TV time in three promotions while being so unlikable? because despite all his carny bullshit he is a good wrestler who had consistently good matches with lots of people, during his time in the wwf especially. it wasn't until he was older and starting booking himself that he went poo poo. but seriously watch some of his new generation and attitude era matches against razor, shawn, x-pac, and especially owen. I can't speak for his WCW stuff that much I just haven't seen enough really.

Jarrett basically got angrier in the WWF. Changed his gear and his hairstyle to something less lame, started acting pissed off all the time, slapnuts, don't piss me off, aaah am the chosen one. When he showed up in WCW after his, um, rebranding, I thought - okay, let's see this 'new' Jarrett. I tried to like him, but I really hated him, and still do. As a performer, that is, I don't know what's he like in person, but as a wrestler, I hate him, and now when I'm watching him on old episodes of Nitro or Raw, I skip his segments, unless his getting his rear end kicked. Tried to watch WCW Greed on the Network last night, it was under 'suggested videos'. Stopped during the opening match. Like I mentioned before, getting both WCW and the WWF on European channels wasn't super easy, and I was stuck with WCW during its downfall, so now when I'm watching WWF PPVs from the same period, I'm actually turning into a total WWF fanboy. If I had both promotions to watch, I'd most likely fully switch to the WWF once Eddie went there. I love Eddie. Oh, and I was a fan of the Filthy Animals. Kidman was awesome, and Rey without the mask still wrestled the same.

I've enjoyed Jeff as AJ's manager in NJPW, mostly for it giving AJ more to yell about and will he/won't he smash his guitar over someone's head. It's also the role with the least speaking he's ever had and he's not a wrestler, so that definitely helps. Re: WWF Jarrett: I haven't seen attitude era Jeff, but New Generation Jarrett was dogshit on the mic, and only mediocre in the ring, although maybe that is the fact he is generally unlikeable bleeding through. My favorite part of his run was when he left and convinced loving Road Dogg to go back to the USWA with him because leaving the WWF for Memphis is what a sane person does. Also it was my favorite part because he was gone.

I've been watching all WCW starting with 1995 and I feel like The Crow is the best thing ever to happen to Sting because...I really hate surfer Sting. Even when the guy is all pumped up and enthused for his home crowd at Bash at the Beach '95, everything he says just comes off as so fake and phony, like maybe if he just tries hard enough and yells loud enough he will actually get into it and people will like him. Hulk Hogan's poo poo is just as cheesy (and often more so), but it works because Hulk buys into all of it. I cringe any time Sting has to start talking and be a babyface. I'm ready for him to stop talking as soon as possible.

I can't recall a ton of good Jarrett matches from his WWF runs. There was his classic with HBK, a few decent ones with Razor in 1995, and Summerslam with XPac in 1998. I really can't think of anything else that really stands out. Someone mentioned some Owen matches. When did these happen?

I've been flipping through old gaming magazines and came across this: This was right around the time that there were a whole slew of WWF games out. The one I distinctly remember is an ad that had the main picture be a shot of Dibiase and Macho Man punching each other in a cage. Other shots had a wide shot of an arena and ring, with promo pics of all the wrestlers interspersed with gameplay shots. The Man Called Sting: so awesome, even a 12 year old beanpole could kick his rear end. EDIT: Also, these games were on the SNES, Genesis and Sega CD. Near as I can tell, WCW never released a game on any of those consoles. The only other game that came out around that time was for the NES and featured the Road Warriors...who had jumped ship to WWF by the time the game was released. The game in the ad above also featured the Steiner Brothers as playable characters...who had also jumped ship to WWF by the time the game was released. WCW Perdido fucked around with this message at 11:03 on Nov 20, 2014 |

So funny story, I was continuing digging through those old mags and I came across an ad for this game not long after I made that post. Ad was a lot better than the one above, had Sting arm-dragging some guy with some fairly blurry gameplay shots. I've never heard of this game, though. Any idea if it was any good?

I'm fairly certain Okada is neither a mortician nor a zombie but he still does a Tombstone, and lots of people who aren't cowboys do lariats.
