Rhyno posted:Having owned one, I remember we had an HE 929 come in to the Mazda specialty shop where I was working, and the guy who had it was the Used Cars Manager for the local Mazda dealership. This was a Mazda Sentia for the rest of the world, and it was the first one I had ever seen. I think about seven in total got imported to Australia. I mentioned in passing how much of a piece of poo poo this thing was, and how terribly ugly it looked. The guy who brought it in said something along the lines of "yeah, and I have to sell the loving thing". I forgot all about the Eunos 800M. When I was working at the dealership (I got poached to go work on far, far cooler Mazdas when my boss left) we would sit the owners down before telling them how much the 100k service was going to cost. Generally you'd get away with a little bit of change from three and a half grand. About five grand adjusted for inflation. On a car that probably had a resale value at that point in time of 20k. Oh and that's 100,000km, not miles.

There's no mass-produced brand in the history of cars that has had universally good cars regardless of model that I'm aware of. I can't think of any particularly lovely Studebakers, but they had the foresight to go out of business before the 1970s hit.

I was watching How It's Made this weekend because it's the best show on TV, and they had one on the Pagani Huayra. It was incredible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0qFge7JlBs The next one they had was the Porsche 911, which was very underwhelming to see considering all of the handmade parts in the Pagani.

I think someone posted it in the Jeep thread. All of them white, 4x2, spanning almost a decade in year model, as I recall. Most of them stripper models, of course, and I think most of them had the 4.0L/auto. I really wanted to bid on a few '97+ models, but had no $$.

Most of them are newer Fusions, Explorers, or Taurii, but the older vehicles are from all of the Big 3. In the downtown Atlanta office, there is a 1997 XJ, a 92 S10 Blazer, and a loving Dodge Aries. Somebody actually drives the Aries, because it changes parking spots regularly. It isn't a personal vehicle, as it has the government plates. I'm amazed it has made it this long without getting surplussed.

When I was a kid my parents took me to the 1973 British Grand Prix at Silverstone. We couldn't get tickets for the race itself but we were able to roam the grounds and see some of the cars before they began prepping them. Even well out of sight of the starting area we could hear the incredible mechanical wailing when the race began. We did not however hear everyone cracking up on the first lap which would've taken some of the fun out of it. Best looking drat race cars of all time. Nothing can top the black and gold.

Then you spend ten grand to make it faster and it's still lame compared to a WRX or evo. They're interesting but nowhere near as cool as the specs imply. What you really want is a pulsar GTiR: AWD that doesn't blow up coupled to an SR20DET. Unsurprisingly, there are no pictures of unmolested ones on the net. But I can assure you that everything in the pic is factory besides the wheels.
