That is not a list of cars banned in the U.S. It is a list of cars deemed ineligible to be imported under the show and display laws. If you were to modify those vehicles to be compliant with NHTSA safety laws they would be eligible for importation for use as a road car.

It's funny that fans of each series will poo poo on the other endlessly, but drivers of each get giddy like schoolgirls if they get to drive the other cars. Each series is amazing in its own right. With F1 it's easy to see the technology, NASCAR's might not be as advanced as an F1 car but when you know what you're looking at and see what they do with the rules provided, it's just as mind blowing.

Thing about that is they typically have to be crash tested in order to determine what the necessary modifications are. That's fine for mass-produced models that were just never sold here, but it would be cost-prohibitive for something like the 959. There's also other issues with importing cars in general. See: Motorex.

Yes and I neglected to mention they also need to be in compliance with EPA laws too. My point is, that is not a list of banned cars. It is a list of cars that were not deemed exceptionally technologically or historically significant enough to be imported without modification under the "Show and Display" laws. They still could be imported by the regular means (which are really not worth it mostly). Ferremit posted:the HDJ80 landcruiser stood out there- they sold the identical drat chassis with the FZJ80 in the USA, so why the hell cant you bring in the turbo diesel version- apart from the steering wheel being on the other side? You probably could if you could get Toyota to write a letter it would crash test similarly and you get the motor EPA approved.
