Nope. There's a T5U variant of that (and the D'kyr), but no fleet/T5U fleet for some reason. :effort: While it's nice they're upgradeable, they're even more behind now (T5U<Fleet T5U/T6<Fleet T6).

I have no idea why there aren't fleet versions yet. They were both added early on so I initially thought there's some weird contract agreements that Cryptic didn't do with the later-added ships that kept them from doing a new version without renegotiating or something, but then they added an upgrade now and even changed the D'kyr's stats so who the hell knows.

I just registered an account on the wiki (JimBarris). I'm a completely green when it comes to MMO's but STO is crazy fun so far and while I feel a little lost as too how exactly to best assemble my character/ship I don't feel like I'm dragging behind that much (im still able to complete the missions im assigned just fine). When do Fleet options open up (like to join and such)? I assume its gated behind a particular level/rank?

Pretty sure you can join a fleet whenever, just can't use any of the fancy fleet gear until later levels.

You really don't need a fleet for anything but the fancy expensive endgame gear really.

Are there no group instances where you fight off the borg or something with your fleet? If it's not necessary, I guess I won't worry about it. STO doesn't seem very social. I've fought the borg/klingons (in space) with other people a couple times but it doesn't seem like you really have to group EVER for most PVE.

Do you have any advice on how to improve my gear? Should I buy gear? Kill special mobs for drops? Pray?

Sometimes? I'm only on in the late hours so a lot of the attempts to get an all goon/fleet game going fail, or takes 20 minutes with lots of begging. Usually easier to just hit a public queue.

For that 2nd part use what you can find, buy some cheap stuff if you just have to try something but by the time it gets to 50-60 all the leveling gear is going in the trash. (I have no idea how the new upgrade system affects this theory, probably didnt change)

You don't really start grouping properly until the endgame, where it suddenly becomes basically all group action. That said, fleets aren't a part of the mechanism by which you group and do fleet actions. They're mainly things that you level up to get endgame equipment and also as a social thing like a guild - but goons just do social stuff with a common chat channel so we can chat cross-faction.

As others have pointed out, you don't really need a fleet for anything except end-game gear. You can group from chat once you've hit 50, but it's harder than it used to be. Cryptic's been doing their best to drive all the players away from the game since DR came out, and the channel's a lot quieter.

Don't worry at all about gear for levelling. If you're in an escort type ship, run dual-heavy cannons in front and turrets in back, all of the same damage type. If it's a cruiser, run beam arrays in all weapon slots and broadside, again using all the same damage type. Whichever damage type it is, find tactical consoles which will boost that damage type. Look up some of the builds on the wiki and use the common boff powers you see in them. Optionally set up a macro to activate all your boff powers by pressing the spacebar. Set your weapons power to 100 and your weapons to auto-fire.

Congratulations - you've completely trivialized all space content while levelling, even if you're using all white equipment.

Once you hit 50, you can start looking at what end-game ship you'd like to fly and start working on getting it/fitting it out. You can work on that while you're getting to level 60, which will take forever since Cryptic nerfed levelling speed again last week.

For the team based content you need to be in our chat channel since nearly all of that stuff is cross-faction and we don't use fleet chat. The upcoming winter event is amazing for new players since it'll let you get 3 free (You are looking at 15 minutes of busywork for 27 days to get these ships. You're also gonna need at least 3 characters who are level 10+ so get some alts rolled.) endgame ships and a boatload of easy marks for the rep system. If you need leveling gear flag me down in the chat channel (@lagomorphic) and I'll send you stuff.

We need your @handle to get you in the chat channel. Right click your character portrait and it'll say charname@handle.

As a note, you do actually need to be in a fleet to join Fleet Alerts and the other handful of fleet queues, at least last I checked. On the other hand, these only give fleet marks so unless you're in a fleet it's not like it really matters. :geno:

The advanced fleet CritD armour is still way better when upgraded. The Delta stuff is all about defence and resists which you don't really need to worry about and are generally going to be better off with more dakka.

I tried the piercing rifle a little bit ago and it seems to do poo poo for damage now. It was never super-great dps, the full auto being the main draw but I just found it taking forever for guys to die on Kobali and ended up swapping weapons so I could actually go through the place without respawns.

I even upgraded it to MXII. :/

I admit, the only gameplay I've been doing in general because gently caress pugging advanced queues with hard-fail conditions queues I've been bothering with lately Bug Hunt Advanced and that's just to farm up ancient power cells. With that in mind, mostly just been having fun with the shotgun, the counter command armor (physical damage, toxic resist), and counter command gun (kinda crap, but 5% crit on the set bonus). Throw on some appropriate ground traits, a CritD delta kit, gambling device, and so on, and at least the missions are over fairly quickly. :shepicide:

The fleet mine has a doff assignment that refines an extra 500 dilithium per day, two more that give a moderate amount of dilithium and energy credits and there are extra dilithium nodes to mine if you're immune to the tedium of the mining minigame.

Stack your critH and if you're tac use that reload skill so its always ready to full auto. Works pretty good on BHE. For normal ground the trick is to take rep traits that proc on crits because it fires so many rounds you'll always be proccing them.
