EDIT for math: Actives [GOKU] 228 vs. [GOON] 271 (17.2345% difference)
Members [GOKU] 265 vs, [GOON] 383 (36.4198% difference)

This is a statistically significant difference in numbers, but holds very little weight on the actual outfit stats, since the majority of playtime comes from active BR80+ players.

This is pretty surprising since during prime time the mumble numbers are like, last night, 70+ for the GOKU mumble and 30+ for GOON. Wonder how many of those actives in goon are people like myself who have been maining GOKU lately but log into their GOON alts daily for welfare certs.

Who are we? We find that we live on an insignificant planet of a humdrum star lost in a galaxy tucked away in some forgotten corner of a universe in which there are far more galaxies than people.

Okay so theres a total playtime sorter!

Total Playtime [GOKU] 420.29m (BLAZE IT) vs. [GOON] 363m (14.628% difference)
Playtime/Members [GOKU] (420.29 / 265) 1.586m vs. [GOON] (363 / 383) 0.94778 (50.3769% difference)

Definitely statistically significant but I suspect the numbers would be notably closer if we managed to exclude [GOKU] Technosexual, who has like 3,000 loving hours on his main and 20 hours at most in his real life. Until I bother with that math feel free to mock us as no-lifes tho~

Your all over looking what makes wisdomcube a good leader competent strategist, his map skills. I'm constantly chatting with him during alerts and he knows whats going on where only BAX seems to be able to properly predict movements. Last nights tawrich fight was a perfect example where he repeatedly called our responses yet no one listened. Instead 3 squads of GOKU got 2 platoons of NC to play whack a mole and nearly lost the tech plant twice.

Strategist, not leader. If no one listens to you because you're a toxic pile of poo poo, you're not a leader. Reading a map isn't a special skill, and it's certainly nothing that makes up for throwing a tantrum in orders when people don't want to give up the fight they're at for a push against some fortress.

I generally avoid command responsibility nowadays but when I end up as a PL I generally have a decent amount of luck in orders using the "there is a good fight/certs at [x]" strategy, and keeping leaderchat regularly updated on what's happening on the map and what's likely to happen. The key with herding NC is to avoid letting them get into fights over facilities because they get 'stuck' to them (especially biolabs), and you basically have to use your own outfit and orders to try and avoid letting those situations happen.

Personally my approach to alerts is that the only alerts you should care about are the ones that your faction starts off with a strong footing in and has a decent chance of winning. If it doesn't, don't care. The last alert that I lead in was that Indar alert on Sunday or Monday where NC managed to drag VS into a tie at last minute. We started off on a decent footing despite the inevitable TR hellzerg to retake Tawrich from us, but we managed to convince the rest of the NC (with some effort) to focus on VS and simply dig in at Skydock/Regent and Crossroads, which would force the TR to either pointlessly slam their dicks in that door or fight the VS. By the end of the alert a number of outfits (SubG in particular) were following our lead and going to bases that we pointed out needed attacked/defended. This happened because we weren't being abusive shitlords.

Yeah NC did good in that alert gobbling up territory--i shoulda forced GOKU to make a stand and slow down the drive but we were having fun in another fight and VS were being retarded.

Eh there wouldn't be any way to record what happens if it was just a game and nothing was at stake. People get different things out of PS2 and the majority of VS used to fight only for victories. I only play to crush my enemies and see them driven before me, KDR and kill streaks don't mean anything to me besides ensuring that i can further my teams goals and be a productive member. I don't care if a person who plays twice a month for 2 hours or will never play again regardless feels, they dont need to be in command chat. If your in command chat you better not be a shitter nerd or i will yell at you and hurt your feelings until you shape up or play a faction that has a hug box.

It is a game and its not CoD/CS/quake/UT its more like tribes where theres a definitive goal presented and the entire reason i play is to achieve that goal. I love competition and the only reason i play online games anymore is for competition. GOKU is a competitive outfit, you don't need to join it if you don't want to. Emerald VS is a competitive faction, you can still play and ignore everything but the community pushes towards winning so your going to feel uncomfortable as we point at your stats.

VS make most fights suck.

The problem with VS is that they have some unique poo poo that makes them fun to play as. These same things make them loving awful infuriating garbage to fight against, and that's why the vast majority of NC and TR just pack up and leave rather than fight protracted battles against the VS. They're not cowards and aren't necessarily just giving up because VS are necessarily "better," they'd just rather spend their ENTERTAINMENT TIME not being annoyed and frustrated and would rather have fun.

I enjoy playing alerts because they allow for a nice balance between "No alert, goof around" versus "Alert time, try moderately hard or at least throw some ammo packs and rez grenades".

They're 100% arbitrary, but I like them. They provide a win condition, allow for some level of strategy at the map/faction level, and provide plenty of fights at the outfit/player base level.

The one real flaw is that they encourage 96+ fights that the servers can't handle. You'd think that would be as easy to fix as adding a spawn delay after a certain population was reached, but eh.

Davethulhu

Morbid Hound
I have a theory.

During an alert, the various faction zergs will find themselves slowly grinding down the various lanes until they run into an easily defensible base, where they generally end up bogging down, and, if beaten, result in an opposing zerg pushing back in the opposite direction.

Small outfits trying to capture outside the zerg lanes will generally find themselves crushed by the "top tier" outfits (AC, TIW, NUC, etc), since those outfits would rather do this than try to capture a base*. The main way a faction gets ahead is by having a mid-sized outfit drop on a point and be coordinated enough that the "elites" would rather fight somewhere else. This is what GOKU does.

* This, I believe, is why you see a lot of hate for "redeployside" on the official forums/reddit, it's people in small outfits or singles who start ghost capping a base, get it down to a minute or so, then get utterly murdered by AC pouring out of the spawn.

I know you're joking, but you generally need to have at least a 1.5 overpop or you're not capping the base. Some are easier, some harder. A good room hold at a defensable point far from the spawn can win against superior numbers.
